The two candidates are separated by only 0.2 percentage points, with Trump maintaining a slight lead that previously had him ahead of President Joe Biden by 9 points before Biden exited the race on July 21. The RCP average reflects data collected from polls conducted between July 22 and August 19. In six out of ten polls, Trump leads by margins ranging from 1 to 4 percentage points, while Harris holds similar leads in three matchups. A Fox News poll taken between July 22 and July 24 with a sample of 1,034 registered voters indicated that the candidates were tied; this poll has a margin of error of 2%. Notably, Trump’s narrow lead does not account for margin of error as is typical in most polling analyses. The range for these ten polls varies from a low of 2.4% to a high of 3.9%. On August 23 during the last two presidential elections, RCP averages showed Biden leading Trump by 5.7 percentage points in 2020 and Hillary Clinton ahead by 9.2 percentage points in 2016. In both those years, Pennsylvania’s electoral votes—20 total—were won narrowly: Trump took them with a victory margin of just over half a percent in ’16 while Biden won them with just over one percent margin four years later; this year Pennsylvania has reduced its electoral vote count to nineteen.

Harris officially accepted her party’s nomination for president on Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention where she emphasized her commitment to moving beyond “bitterness” and “divisive battles.” Supporters highlighted her humble beginnings as an immigrant child who worked at McDonald’s while studying at Howard University as evidence of her dedication to middle-class issues and reproductive rights advocacy. However, some critics have questioned whether she can break free from Biden’s economic policies amid rising inflation and ongoing U.S involvement abroad.

The impact of the convention on Harris’ popularity remains uncertain; historically candidates tend to see an increase in support following such events.

On another front, Trump accepted his party’s nomination on July18 during the Republican National Convention held in Milwaukee where he positioned himself as an outsider fighting against an establishment focused on self-interest—a theme central to his campaign since his first run back in ’16 but intensified after he survived an assassination attempt during one rally earlier this month which left one person dead and two others injured when shots were fired at him while he was speaking near Butler PA; he narrowly avoided injury himself after turning away just before being hit

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/kamala-harris-donald-trump-north-carolina-rating-aug-2024.webp
[538
3728,4021,5836,15698,3634
post-2330412","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-washington-examiner","tag-election","tag-harris","tag-pennsylvania","tag-polling","tag-trump
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/kamala-harris-donald-trump-north-carolina-rating-aug-2024.webp
["GET
