He seeks more than $1 million in damages.<\/p>\n<p>The boy was allegedly branded while attending the ceremony with his mother and without Cheruvu&rsquo;s knowledge. The mother was allegedly branded by the temple in August 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Images obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/articles\/court\/2024\/04\/04\/482651\/houston-area-hindu-temple-sued-over-alleged-branding-of-11-year-old-boy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Houston Public Media<\/a> show two symbols burned onto the boy&rsquo;s shoulders, one appearing to be a shell-like symbol and the other an image of a Hindu god.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is happening basically in our backyard over here, so that&rsquo;s the reason we filed the lawsuit,&rdquo; Cheruvu&rsquo;s attorney Brant Stogner told HPM.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We want to make sure our community is aware of this and want to make sure it doesn&rsquo;t happen to anybody else, anybody else&rsquo;s child or any child at all.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Stogner says that nearly 100 adults and at least three children were branded in the April ceremony.
