In short, he needed to make way for the state-owned collective farms that would replace the capitalists.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That is why we have recently passed from the policy of&nbsp;<em>restricting<\/em>&nbsp;the exploiting tendencies of the kulaks to the policy of&nbsp;<em>eliminating the kulaks as a class,&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/em>Stalin said in a 1929 <a href=\"https:\/\/history.hanover.edu\/courses\/excerpts\/111stalin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">speech<\/a> on agrarian policy.<\/p>\n<p>Some <a href=\"https:\/\/cla.umn.edu\/chgs\/holocaust-genocide-education\/resource-guides\/holodomor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">modern scholars<\/a> treat the resulting famine in Ukraine as a genocide.<\/p>\n<p>Harris&rsquo;s proposed restriction on &ldquo;price gouging&rdquo; as defined by federal bureaucrats might not have the same Stalinist intent. But it derives justification from the same crackpot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/leftists-hate-christianity-kryptonite-marxism-filmmakers-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marxist<\/a> theories.
