podcast that is worth remembering as Democrats psych themselves up with a convention this week.<\/p>\n<p>Asked what a potential Kamala Harris administration might look like, politics reporter Astead Herndon laughed. &ldquo;We don&rsquo;t know what type of president she would be,&rdquo; he admitted. He said it&rsquo;s not even clear if it would be any different from Joe Biden&rsquo;s presidency but that it doesn&rsquo;t really matter anyway. &ldquo;Frankly, if you ask any Democrat, they would say that&rsquo;s tomorrow&rsquo;s problem, and as long as she wins the election and stops Donald Trump from winning another term, they don&rsquo;t care,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;They really don&rsquo;t care. They&rsquo;ll deal with that then.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-59a446a557df476d2869c72046747acc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-59a446a557df476d2869c72046747acc\"><\/div>\n<p>In short, Democrats have no interest in hearing anything that sounds even remotely <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/23\/by-the-way-kamala-harris-is-a-dangerous-authoritarian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">like policy or legislative action<\/a> from Kamala. That&rsquo;s &ldquo;tomorrow&rsquo;s problem.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>No wonder. Her first attempt late last week at putting forth what might tangentially be called &ldquo;ideas&rdquo; confounded everyone cheering for her (the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/13\/kamala-harris-isnt-running-a-democrat-campaign-the-media-are-doing-it-for-her\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">national news media<\/a>). To date, Kamala&rsquo;s policy proposals are limited to axing federal taxes on gratuities (which <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/14\/the-media-love-trumps-ideas-when-they-come-from-kamala-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">she stole from Trump<\/a>), a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">child tax credit<\/a> (which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/future-perfect\/2020\/9\/18\/21444103\/child-tax-credit-2020-joe-bden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">she stole from her boss<\/a>), and a $25,000 giveaway for first<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-9-of-the-10-worst-cities-for-first-time-home-buyers-are-in-california\/\" title=\"Report: 9 Of The 10 Worst Cities For First-Time Home Buyers Are In California\">-time home buyers<\/a> (the sort of proposal every economist not named &ldquo;Paul Krugman&rdquo; would laugh at). Oh, and best of all, her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/grocery-costs-inflation-kamala-harris-ban-price-gouging-election-trump-2024-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">proposal<\/a> for a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RqTCZInsUCI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal ban on price gauging on food<\/a>.&rdquo; She presumably meant &ldquo;gouging&rdquo; but, yes, she said, gauging.<\/p>\n<p>To be sure, it&rsquo;s not as if the press is &ldquo;turning on her,&rdquo; as Fox News people like to say anytime a Democrat is mildly criticized by the media from the left. If that were true, Axios would have called her first-time home buyer giveaway stupid as hell and unworthy of acknowledgment. Instead, Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/newsletters\/axios-sneak-peek-2f0d7aa0-5af3-11ef-b791-936dc9a22951.html?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=newsletter_axiossneakpeek&amp;stream=top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> it was &ldquo;hard to see how this plan would affect [housing] prices and availability in a meaningful way.&rdquo; The Washington Post didn&rsquo;t call her blurbs sophomoric and unserious, but rather <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2024\/08\/16\/harris-economy-plan-gimmicks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;gimmicks&rdquo;<\/a> that are simply &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/the-posts-view\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">misguided.<\/a>&ldquo;<\/p>\n<p>But we don&rsquo;t have a legitimate news media, we have the American news media, so we take what we can get.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6664c0c523ef4f84f3533adc45a23f83 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6664c0c523ef4f84f3533adc45a23f83\"><\/div>\n<p>In any event, it remains just as true today as it did last month and for the duration of the three years before that &mdash;&nbsp;that Kamala is <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/27\/kamala-cant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in over her head<\/a>, has no interest in governance, and is incapable of selling a vision, because she has none.<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s why you keep hearing about <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/13\/the-press-wont-discuss-real-campaign-issues-because-they-dont-want-trump-to-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;vibes&rdquo;<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/16\/there-is-nothing-joyful-about-harris-and-walzs-grimly-anti-american-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> &ldquo;joy.&rdquo;<\/a> She can&rsquo;t talk about anything else, and as the Times&rsquo; Astead Herndon said, they don&rsquo;t want her to. Because she can&rsquo;t. When she tries, it&rsquo;s an embarrassment.
