The margin-of-error was 4.4 points in every state but North Carolina, which was 4.2. The poll is considered one of the most reliable polls in politics.

Don Levy, Siena College Research Institute’s Director, said “when compared to battleground polls from the New York Times and Siena College from May, Harris has gained an average of over 9 points each across Arizona, Georgia and Nevada.”

“As the two VP candidates, J.D. Harris also reclaimed some lost support from non-white voters and TikTok users who had deserted President Joe Biden.

Voters agree with at least one point the Trump campaign has continued to blast across the political air waves: Harris flip-flops on the issues as opposed to Trump. Hispanic voters, especially critical in Nevada and Arizona, were 12 points more likely to believe she was likelier to change her positions on the issues.

The poll showed Republicans losing by decent margins in the Arizona and Nevada Senate races while also showing Josh Stein, lead Lt. In traditionally Republican Arizona, Harris has taken the lead with 50% compared to Trump’s 45%, and she also leads in North Carolina at 49% to 47%. The race remains close in Georgia and Nevada, where both candidates are within the margin of error. Conducted from August 8 to August 15, the survey included responses from 2,670 voters and had a margin of error of 4.4 points for most states and 4.2 points for North Carolina.

Don Levy, Director of Siena College Research Institute, noted that compared to earlier battleground polls from May, Harris has gained an average of over nine points in Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada. As vice-presidential candidates J.D. Vance and Tim Walz introduce themselves to voters, Vance is facing negative favorability ratings across all four states while Walz is less known but viewed positively in three out of four states—only receiving negative feedback in Georgia.

Currently, Trump holds a slight edge over Harris in Georgia (50% to 46%) and leads by one point in Nevada (48% to 47%). This polling data presents challenges for Trump since he had previously secured strong positions in these states before Harris entered the race. A significant finding from the poll reveals that more voters perceive Harris as too liberal (43%) than those who view Trump as too conservative (33%). Additionally, she has regained some support among non-white voters and TikTok users who had previously distanced themselves from President Joe Biden.

Voters also resonate with one criticism frequently voiced by Trump’s campaign: they believe that Harris tends to change her stance on issues more than Trump does. Notably among Hispanic voters—crucial demographics in Nevada and Arizona—there’s a notable inclination (12 points) towards believing she is more likely to shift her positions.

The poll indicates Republicans are trailing significantly in Senate races within Arizona and Nevada while showing Josh Stein leading Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson by a margin of 49 percent to 39 percent for governor.
