And their approach — including controlling regulatory language, state party platforms and the definition of when life begins — reflects an incremental strategy similar to the one activists used for decades to eventually overturn Roe v. Jackson win at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Dias’ concern that pro-lifers are dedicated to not only eradicating the stain abortion has left on our country legislatively but also taking a stand against the unethical pitfalls of IVF in states and non-government spheres like the Southern Baptist Convention, however, suggests that the NYT is mostly worried that pro-lifers will succeed again.

“The anti-abortion coalition knows that its ambitions would once again almost certainly be advanced by another Trump term, with government officials who share its goals and would be embedded in powerful positions,” she wrote.

Dias tried to discourage action by painting pro-lifers as extremists who “pursued policies at the edges” to secure their goals, despite the long list of evidence that Americans support more limits on abortion, not less. On IVF specifically, Dias claimed pro-lifers “face a tough political battle since their positions are largely unpopular and do not reflect majority opinion, particularly on I.V.F.”

Corporate media often use polls to overstate Americans’ support for IVF. A significant chunk of U.S. adults, however, claim they disagree with the unethical methods that Big Fertility has adopted as standard practice for IVF. This is an important discrepancy, yet it is hardly mentioned in publications like NYT.

The more you look at it, the more Dias’ sweeping generalization looks like an open attempt to discourage pro-lifers from evolving their policy proposals to better reflect their principles.

No matter how much the NYT or Dias tries to complicate it, life undoubtedly begins at conception and deserves protection. Anyone who claims to be pro-life but doesn’t center their policy goals around that core value is only doing damage to the cause.

IVF is no doubt the next frontier for pro-lifers to conquer, but that’s not a secret that NYT or other corporate media outlets are suddenly exposing. It’s simply the next logical step for a movement that claims to want to protect unborn babies from the beginning.

Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and producer of The Federalist Radio Hour. In an article titled “How Christian Conservatives Are Planning for the Next Battle, on I.V.F.,” Elizabeth Dias, the NYT’s National Religion Correspondent, raises concerns about a “powerful battalion of conservative Christians” who have “quietly laid the groundwork” to not only limit access to abortion but also regulate in vitro fertilization (I.V.F.). She notes that they are working towards their ultimate aim of abolishing abortion from conception, both within and outside the Republican Party.

There is nothing unusual about pro-lifers advocating for measures that protect vulnerable babies from harm or destruction, whether through abortion or by discarding frozen embryos created via I.V.F. In fact, questioning why those undergoing numerous I.V.F. cycles in the U.S. can dispose of embryos without consequence aligns morally and logically with pro-life beliefs regarding natural rights beginning at conception.

However, Dias seems to perceive this goal as a hidden agenda recently surfacing in public discourse. She writes that pro-lifers view their challenge as spanning generations rather than just one political cycle and employ an incremental strategy similar to past efforts aimed at overturning Roe v. Wade.

Both outsiders and insiders have speculated on whether the pro-life movement will maintain its effectiveness following its victory in Dobbs v. Jackson at the U.S. Supreme Court. Dias’ apprehension about pro-lifers not only seeking legislative changes against abortion but also addressing ethical issues surrounding I.V.F., particularly within organizations like the Southern Baptist Convention, suggests she fears their continued success.

She notes that “the anti-abortion coalition knows” another Trump term could further advance their goals with supportive government officials in key positions. Dias attempts to portray pro-lifers as extremists pursuing fringe policies despite evidence indicating American support for stricter abortion limits rather than more lenient ones; she claims they face significant political challenges due to unpopularity regarding their views on I.V.F.

Corporate media often exaggerate public support for I.V.F., yet many Americans express disagreement with unethical practices commonly associated with it—a nuance frequently overlooked by outlets like The New York Times.

Upon closer examination, it appears Dias’ broad generalizations serve as an effort to dissuade pro-lifers from refining their policy proposals in alignment with core principles centered around protecting life from conception onward.

Regardless of how much The New York Times or Dias complicates matters, it remains clear: life begins at conception and merits protection. Those who identify as pro-life yet fail to prioritize this fundamental value undermine the movement’s cause. While addressing issues related to I.V.F may be seen as a new frontier for advocates of life protection, it’s not a newfound revelation being uncovered by corporate media; rather it’s a logical progression for those committed to defending unborn lives right from inception

[546
4310,38357,33263,8347
post-2325701","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-the-federalist","tag-abortion","tag-baby-protection","tag-new-york-times","tag-pro-life
["GET
