That&rsquo;s unheard of.<\/p>\n<p>Leave it to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jets-star-reacts-teammate-aaron-rodgers-vp-rumors-aint-answering-text-messages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">soap operatic<\/a>&nbsp;New York Jets franchise to somehow wade into this sort of unprecedented trade request.<\/p>\n<p>To wit, the Jets acquired one of the NFL&rsquo;s top pass rushers in defensive end Haason Reddick this offseason.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/ReddHa00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reddick<\/a>, who has averaged a double-digit sack total since 2020 (a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-would-rather-kids-die-than-stand-up-to-teachers-unions\/\" title=\"Democrats Would Rather Kids Die Than Stand Up To Teachers Unions\">whopping total<\/a> of 50.5 sacks over the last four seasons), was seeking a contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles &mdash; where Reddick has plied his trade for the last two seasons &mdash; this offseason.<\/p>\n<p>  <script> \t\t\t\tif( ! getCookie( 'ff_subbed' ) ) if( typeof FFADS.replace_ict !='undefined' ) if( FFADS.replace_ict ) eval( FFADS.replace_ict ); \t\t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Once it became clear the Eagles were not interested in paying a premium for Reddick, the pass rusher requested a trade to a team that would be more amenable to give him a contract extension.<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s where the Jets swooped in, trading for Reddick with a mere conditional third<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/drew-brees-announces-retirement\/\" title=\"Drew Brees Announces Retirement\">-round draft pick<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At a glance, it looked like the perfect pick-up for the defensive-minded Jets. They were getting both a veteran presence and an elite pass rusher, all for the relatively low cost of the 100th, or so, best draft pick in the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-best-moment-nfl-draft-reminds-world-young-men-need-fathers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NFL Draft<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So far, so good.<\/p>\n<p>The issues between Reddick and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-29-year-old-pro-tells-new-york-jets-retiring-football-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jets<\/a> quickly arose, however, as the two parties appeared to quickly hit an impasse.<\/p>\n<p>In June, as mandatory mini-camps were beginning across the NFL, Reddick wasn&rsquo;t just absent from Jets camp &mdash; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/smQvyD8J20\">https:\/\/t.co\/smQvyD8J20<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/N9iPAwbHUY\">pic.twitter.com\/N9iPAwbHUY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NFL_DovKleiman\/status\/1804174807501606957?\">June 21, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Images of Reddick gallivanting around Japan while dressed up went viral in June, and turned out to be an ominous sign for the future of both parties.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, reports, including from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/haason-reddick-requests-trade-from-jets-amid-contract-stalemate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NFL<\/a> itself, began surfacing that Reddick made the unheard of <em>second <\/em>trade request in the span of a single offseason.<\/p>\n<p>The crux of the issue, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/40837032\/jets-holdout-haason-reddick-asks-trade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN<\/a>, is that the &ldquo;Jets won&rsquo;t negotiate with a player unless he&rsquo;s in camp,&rdquo; Jets general manager Joe Douglas said in a posted statement. &ldquo;Since the trade discussions back in March we have been clear, direct, and consistent with our position.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our focus will remain on the guys we have here as we prepare for the regular season.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Connor_J_Hughes\/status\/1823070286146568359\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According<\/a> to NFL reporter Connor Hughes, Reddick had previously told the franchise that he would play on his current deal.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That, obviously, has not happened,&rdquo;
