Elissa Slotkin (D-MI). The letter, authored by campaign attorneys William J. McGinley and Michael Bayes, claims that Slotkin, the Democratic Senate nominee, has propagated two false narratives about Rogers.

The ad first alleges that Rogers engaged in carpetbagging by stating he “left office and left Michigan for good” at the end of his congressional term in 2015. While it is true that Rogers bought a home in Florida, he has since returned to Michigan and is registered to vote there. The letter emphasizes that “Mike Rogers is a taxpaying resident of the State of Michigan” and is registered in White Lake Charter Township, Oakland County.

Additionally, Slotkin’s ad accuses Rogers of “aiding Chinese tech companies,” featuring names like ZTE and Huawei along with a headline from Business Insider on screen. It asserts that he “made millions” by assisting these companies and granting them access to the U.S., which the letter refutes as false. It clarifies that Mike Rogers has never worked with any Chinese tech firms such as ZTE or Huawei; rather, after leaving Congress, he became involved with cybersecurity firms because he recognized the need for private sector support against international criminal organizations as well as threats from Russia and China.

Rogers founded 5G Action Now to combat efforts by Chinese companies regarding U.S. 5G networks and advocate for removing Chinese hardware from American infrastructure.
