Sessler, endorsed by Trump, led the way with 31.8% of the vote, followed by Newhouse with 24.1% of the vote, with 77% of the ballots counted. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2992436\/gop-rep-dan-newhouse-facing-primary-challenge-tiffany-smiley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tiffany Smiley<\/a>, another strong GOP challenger who was endorsed by Trump, received 19.3% and will not advance.<\/p>\n<p>Given Washington state&rsquo;s top-two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/good-news-three-of-ten-pro-impeachment-republicans-including-liz-cheney-already-have-primary-opponents\/\" title=\"Good News! The closest Democratic challenger, Mary Baechler, received only 14.5% of the vote in the primary.<\/p>\n<p>Newhouse is one of the few remaining House Republicans in office who voted to impeach Trump in 2021. He has represented Washington&rsquo;s 4th District since 2015. The former president attempted to unseat Newhouse with Sessler in the 2022 primary midterm elections, but Sessler was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump first endorsed Sessler and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3111404\/trump-endorsed-candidate-attacks-other-trump-endorsed-candidate-same-race-as-afterthought\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>threw his support behind Smiley<\/a> 3 1\/2 months later.
