The media \u2063has been criticized for \u2062failing to investigate \u200dor question this situation adequately. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u200b Vice President Kamala Harris has \u200balso \u2064avoided engaging with \u2062the press or clarifying her political positions despite\u2064 being positioned as\u2064 the \u2062new presidential candidate for the Democrats. \u2062Her last significant\u2064 media interaction \u2063was months ago,\u200d despite calls for her to\u200b provide \u200btransparency regarding her record. Yet the two top officials of the most powerful nation in the world won&rsquo;t answer any genuine questions.<\/p>\n<p>Three weeks have passed since Joe Biden was pushed out of the 2024 presidential race over deteriorating physical and mental abilities, and he has yet to publicly clarify with any specificity <em>why <\/em>he took this unprecedented step &mdash; or why, if he&rsquo;s incapable of campaigning for the presidency, he&rsquo;s fit to serve out his term in the White House.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, not one journalist in the corporate or legacy media has explained how Biden&rsquo;s obvious senility could turn from a democracy-corroding MAGA misinformation operation into an accepted reality in a single day.<\/p>\n<p>If they were fooled for three years, how can we trust them? If they weren&rsquo;t fooled, and they didn&rsquo;t tell us, how can we trust them?<\/p>\n<p>Well, we can&rsquo;t. Because they&rsquo;re back at it.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrats&rsquo; new presidential candidate, who&rsquo;s never won a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/by-the-way-kamala-harris-is-a-dangerous-authoritarian\/\" title=\"By The Way, Kamala Harris Is A Dangerous Authoritarian\">single primary vote<\/a>, might have been crowned but hasn&rsquo;t given a real interview or even an extemporaneous political statement since Democrat bigwigs pushed Biden aside. In a functioning liberal republic, this would be pretty big news.<\/p>\n<p>The last time the vice president of the United States sat down with any media was June 24, when she was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/west-wing-playbook\/2024\/08\/07\/why-harris-isnt-taking-questions-00173115\">interviewed<\/a> by the sycophants on MSNBC&rsquo;s &ldquo;Morning Joe.&rdquo; Before that was the &ldquo;Momala&rdquo; Harris&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=d_XCKpxsp5k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interview<\/a>&nbsp;with Drew Barrymore, which might be the most cringe-worthy display of fawning in recorded history.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What is the incentive for her [to take more questions]?&rdquo; a person close to Harris&rsquo; campaign told Politico recently. &ldquo;She&rsquo;s getting out exactly the message she wants to get out.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, it&rsquo;s quite the paradox. The media continue to baby Kamala and get her message out to the public, so Kamala doesn&rsquo;t feel the least bit of urgency in clarifying her record.<\/p>\n<p>If they were so inclined, the naval-gazing media could probably get Kamala out of her shell by doing some honest, deep dives into her history and positions. If her lack of transparency were a daily top-of-the-fold story she would be compelled to speak.<\/p>\n<p>Say what you will about Donald Trump, but he&rsquo;s done scores of interviews and pressers over the past few months, many of them with antagonistic venues &mdash; including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yjN5dvDTeaE\">taking questions<\/a> at the National Association of Black Journalists convention just weeks after surviving an assassination attempt.<\/p>\n<p>Kamala hasn&rsquo;t spoken to a hostile outlet in years. She won&rsquo;t even take questions from her fans.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s running mate, J.D. Vance, is compelled to answer questions about a throwaway comment he made on a podcast before he was even in the Senate. Kamala just sends her minions to walk back major policy positions that would fundamentally affect every American. She staked out these radical positions only a few years earlier while&nbsp;<em>running for the same office<\/em>. Kamala isn&rsquo;t triangulating her views for a general election, she is effectively negating an entire political history through press releases.<\/p>\n<p>Kamala, for instance, says she no longer <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/02\/07\/ten-most-insane-requirements-green-new-deal\/\">supports<\/a> banning all air travel, meat, and combustible engines. That&rsquo;s nice. Kamala says she no longer believes in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/07\/23\/opinion\/kamala-harris-wont-fix-bidens-open-border-she-doesnt-even-think-illegal-immigration-is-a-crime\/\">decriminalizing<\/a> illegal border crossings. Good. The media treat her new claims as indisputable. No questions asked. No explanations given.<\/p>\n<p>Is Kamala still going to try to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/04\/22\/us\/politics\/kamala-harris-gun-control.html\">ban<\/a> semiauto rifles through an executive order? Does she believe all Americans <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/07\/31\/opinion\/kamalas-equity-crusade-would-punish-white-dude-supporters\/\">should<\/a> &ldquo;end up in the same place&rdquo; no matter how hard they work? Does she support defunding the police? We have no clue.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the media hackery is driven by partisanship. Some of it is also driven by access. There are practical concerns for journalists. Any reporters who truly challenge Kamala are sure to find themselves on the outs. This is why we need a press, not just an outlet, to take their professional responsibility seriously. She previously advocated radical views during her own campaign but now appears intent on erasing those positions through press releases rather than engaging in public discourse about them.<\/p>\n<p>For example: Kamala claims she no longer supports banning air travel or meat consumption and says she&#8217;s against decriminalizing illegal border crossings\u2014but these assertions are treated as fact by the media without question or explanation.<\/p>\n<p>We remain unaware whether she still intends to pursue executive orders banning semi-automatic rifles or believes all Americans should achieve equal outcomes regardless of effort or supports defunding police departments\u2014all crucial issues left unaddressed due largely to partisan bias within journalism driven by access concerns; reporters who challenge Kamala risk losing their standing altogether.<\/p>\n<p>This highlights our need for responsible journalism\u2014not just outlets focused solely on access\u2014to hold public figures accountable because currently they fail at this duty entirely.
