into an anonymous whistleblower after the whistleblower disclosed information &ldquo;regarding the surveillance of Ms. [Tulsi] Gabbard.&rdquo; The group sent a separate <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/07\/watchdog-demands-dhs-inspector-general-investigate-new-abuses-of-surveillance-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter <\/a>to the agency investigator earlier this week demanding that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-fbi-agent-who-played-key-role-in-crossfire-hurricane-scrutinized-over-alleged-russia-ties-report\/\" title=\"Ex-FBI Agent Who Played Key Role In Crossfire Hurricane Scrutinized Over Alleged Russia Ties: Report\">inspector general probe<\/a> the U.S. Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS), which is under the TSA, for &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watchdog-demands-dhs-ig-investigate-surveillance-state\/\" title=\"Watchdog Demands DHS IG Investigate Surveillance State\">improperly targeting individuals<\/a> for enhanced surveillance,&rdquo; including Gabbard, a former Democrat congresswoman from Hawaii.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4f52db254805c5f6d9ba59919c0b66e2 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4f52db254805c5f6d9ba59919c0b66e2\"><\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;I have since become aware that TSA has initiated an investigation into what it considers a &lsquo;leak&rsquo; of Sensitive Security Information (SSI),&rdquo; wrote Empower Oversight President Tristan Leavitt on Wednesday. &ldquo;As you know, however, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jim-jordan-demands-fbi-explain-domestic-extremism-symbols-guide\/\" title=\"Jim Jordan Demands FBI Explain Domestic Extremism Symbols Guide\">protected whistleblower disclosure<\/a> is not a &lsquo;leak.&rsquo; Seeking to punish a lawful whistleblower as an illegal leaker is classic retaliation and is itself illegal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Leavitt wrote on behalf of an agency whistleblower whose wife was included in a roundup of individuals subject to additional surveillance under FAMS&rsquo;s &ldquo;Special Mission Coverage.&rdquo; The designation as a &ldquo;domestic terrorist&rdquo; was provoked by her attendance at former President Donald Trump&rsquo;s rally at the Ellipse in Washington.
