Never mind that that sentence already sounds ridiculous: At the hospital, he&rsquo;s treated by a young female doctor, who is of course comely and of course attracted to Swayze&rsquo;s character. As she prepares to give him a local anesthetic, he declines, leading her to ask him whether he enjoys pain.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Pain don&rsquo;t hurt,&rdquo; he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=E_RNZFm1mls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">responds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Well, <em>definitionally<\/em> it does; that&rsquo;s why it&rsquo;s pain in the first place. If you hadn&rsquo;t realized at that point, you did then: &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/80s-action-cheesy-humor-mcgregor-vs-gyllenhaal-new-road-house-reboot-trailer-catches-fire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Road House<\/a>&rdquo; is a farce of itself. Granted, there was already enough writing on the wall at that point (for instance, one is amazed and amused that Swayze&rsquo;s character could be a famous, well-remunerated bouncer &mdash; and into mindfulness, too!), but at that point, the movie slips into self-parody. Just with a few words.<\/p>\n<p>I mention this because, some time ago, Minnesota Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/25-years-guard-tim-walz-even-know-kind-rifle-carried\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tim Walz<\/a> &mdash; the man Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris wants as her wingman in case something happens to her, and potentially to help her govern as well &mdash; had his &ldquo;Road House&rdquo; moment some years ago.<\/p>\n<p>  <script> \t\t\t\tif( ! getCookie( 'ff_subbed' ) ) if( typeof FFADS.replace_ict !='undefined' ) if( FFADS.replace_ict ) eval( FFADS.replace_ict ); \t\t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>We&rsquo;re just catching up to it now that the governor is vying to be second in command of the most powerful nation on Earth. He&rsquo;s also given us plenty of writing on the wall, too &mdash; including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-horrified-look-harris-face-walz-makes-dirty-joke-jd-vance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vulgar and off-putting remarks<\/a> during his unveiling in Philadelphia, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/freezes-cnn-fact-checks-vp-pick-tim-walz-military-experience-making-kamala-harris-look-even-worse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">questions about his military record<\/a>, and his record as governor as Minnesota burned during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/walz-house-windows-kept-open-2020-riots-disturbing-reason\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Floyd riots of 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But now we have his &ldquo;pain don&rsquo;t hurt&rdquo; moment: A bit on MSNBC in 2022 where he basically said the First Amendment was bunkum.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think we need to push back on [disinformation],&rdquo; Walz said in a December 2022 appearance on the Maddow Network.<\/p>\n<p>He added: &ldquo;There&rsquo;s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech, and especially around our democracy.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Tim Walz: &ldquo;There&rsquo;s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech and especially around our democracy&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4pNBwb8Su7\">pic.twitter.com\/4pNBwb8Su7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Matt Wolking (@MattWolking) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MattWolking\/status\/1821211639854829746?\">August 7, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;And especially around our democracy,&rdquo; which has some of the most sweeping free-speech laws in the world enshrined in the First Amendment to our Constitution. Pain don&rsquo;t hurt, ladies and gentlemen!<\/p>\n<p>There&rsquo;s never been any presidential or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-knows-he-messed-up-on-fracking-at-debate-and-is-now-doing-damage-control-the-daily-wire\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Knows He Messed Up On Fracking At Debate And Is Now Doing Damage Control | The Daily Wire\">vice presidential candidate<\/a> in modern times, and perhaps none since John Adams pushed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/americanexperience\/features\/adams-alien-and-seditions-act\/#:~:text=The%20Sedition%20Act%20authorized%20the,of%20the%20good%20people%20of\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alien and Seditions Act<\/a>, who viewed the First Amendment&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gab-ceo-i-had-very-close-relationships-with-facebook-and-twitteri-got-to-see-the-evils-of-their-business-model-for-many-yearswhat-were-s\/\" title=\"GAB CEO: \u201cI had very close relationships with Facebook and Twitter\u2026\u201dI got to see the evils of their business model for many years\u201d\u2026\u201dWhat we\u2019re seeing in America right now is the rise of Communism\u201d[VIDEO]\">free speech protections<\/a> with such blatant disregard. And viewing the whole interview isn&rsquo;t more exculpatory; Walz, speaking about voting reform measures favored by Democrats, was asked about &ldquo;disinformation, telling people where to vote the wrong way.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These were censored shenanigans, but it&rsquo;s becoming more ominous,&rdquo; the host said. &ldquo;Can you talk about that and what you will do to ensure that there are penalties for that?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Walz went on to talk about &ldquo;intimidation at the ballot box&rdquo; and &ldquo;undermining the idea that mail-in ballots aren&rsquo;t legal&rdquo; as disinformation he would punish.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, he said people should be mandated to &ldquo;tell the truth, where the voting places are, who can vote, who is able to be there.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;And watching some states continue to weaken the protections around the ballot &mdash; I think this is what is inspiring us to lean into this.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Minnesota Gov. Walz Asks Fellow Democrats To &lsquo;Think Big&rsquo; When It Comes To Fixing Voting Issues\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/y8ns76RCmWs?start=213&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>This vague word salad provides one clue to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/5-insane-policies-kamalas-vp-pick-used-destroy-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">why the vice president<\/a> picked Walz to be her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fla-gov-ron-desantis-becoming-major-voice-for-gop\/\" title=\"Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis becoming major voice for GOP\">potential vice president<\/a>: He almost makes her word salads look good.<\/p>\n<p>But I digress. The key issue is that Walz has a dim view of free speech as it pertains to elections, particularly if it involves speaking ill about mail-in ballots and for other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-praises-youngkins-election-security-measures-as-gop-eyes-flipping-virginia-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Trump praises Youngkin\u2019s election security measures as GOP eyes flipping Virginia - Washington Examiner\">voter security measures<\/a>. He&rsquo;s also quite vague, which is an ominous sign when you&rsquo;re talking about limiting a fundamental right that Americans have to speak freely.<\/p>\n<p>Also, note his language. He uses the word &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/topics\/journalism-facts\/misinformation-disinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">misinformation<\/a>&rdquo; &mdash; which sounds like a synonym of disinformation, but to the left, it&rsquo;s not. Disinformation, as they define it, is <em>deliberate<\/em> attempts to pump fake news into the narrative ecosystem, usually by bad actors.&nbsp;<em>Misinformation<\/em>, meanwhile, merely refers to any information The Powers That Be&trade; deem to be &ldquo;wrong.&rdquo; There&rsquo;s no intent involved.<\/p>\n<p>To interpret the First Amendment as not encompassing misinformation, therefore, is to say someone does not have the right to get the facts wrong, at least in the eyes of those who keep the official narrative. It&rsquo;s impossible to overstate how dangerous and self-evidently wrong this line of thinking is.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, there&rsquo;s hardly a rash of voter misinformation <em>or<\/em> disinformation so serious that people are voting on the wrong day. I thought spurious allegations of voter fraud were the bane of Democrats. Guess not, so long as it&rsquo;s the other side.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, it&rsquo;s not&nbsp;<em>really<\/em> actual willful disinformation that Walz seems interested in banning. To <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/took-elon-5-seconds-cut-don-lemon-size-say-thought-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paraphrase Elon Musk&rsquo;s remarks<\/a> to Don Lemon in the infamous X interview the two had, he wants censorship so bad he can taste it.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that the founders were well aware of disinformation when the First Amendment was written. Media was even more biased in that day, thanks to the fact most of it was strictly partisan &mdash; and not just voluntarily but by design. We&rsquo;ve lived through the age of yellow journalism, hate literature propagandizing for groups like the KKK (which, contrary to Walz&rsquo;s characterization of &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-viral-olympics-moment-female-fighter-hilariously-roasts-boxer-who-failed-gender-test\/\" title=\"Watch Viral Olympics Moment: Female Fighter Hilariously Roasts Boxer Who Failed Gender Test\">hate speech&#038;rdquo<\/a>; as not guaranteed,&nbsp;<em>is<\/em> guaranteed), the Pentagon Papers, the Watergate crisis and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnns-don-lemon-changes-direction-old-pal-chris-cuomo-breach-journalistic-standards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chris Cuomo-Don Lemon<\/a> two-hour block of CNN programming&nbsp;<em>every<\/em> weekday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Through all those challenges, we&rsquo;ve managed to weather the storm&nbsp;<em>and<\/em> keep our democracy. Now, there&rsquo;s such a vague menace out there that Tim Walz wants to severely crimp our free speech protections.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing this, as Harris&rsquo; team assumedly did, they picked this guy to be her running mate.<\/p>\n<p>Pain don&rsquo;t hurt.
