Yet, it has fueled dozens of radical <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/03\/every-state-facing-deceptive-unlimited-abortion-ballot-measures-this-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">state ballot measures<\/a> demanding <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/11\/03\/proponents-of-ohios-abortion-amendment-dont-want-you-to-know-how-barbaric-it-is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortion be legal through birth<\/a> for women whose doctors claim their physical, mental, financial, or emotional situation puts their health at risk.<\/p>\n<p>A chorus of corporate media articles insist, especially in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court&rsquo;s <em>Dobbs v. Jackson<\/em> decision, that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/08\/12\/texas-adoption-abortion-access\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">adoption<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2021\/12\/8\/22822854\/abortion-roe-wade-adoption-supreme-court-barrett\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;isn&rsquo;t a replacement for abortion&rdquo;<\/a> because it allegedly comes with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/think\/opinion\/roe-v-wade-was-overturned-adoption-isnt-solution-lack-abortion-access-rcna35238\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">even more trauma<\/a> than <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/18\/therapist-yes-post-abortive-women-suffer-from-trauma-and-complicated-grief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">killing a baby via dismemberment or chemically-induced starvation does.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Adoption is often just as traumatic as the right thinks abortion is, if not more so, as a woman has to relinquish not a lump of cells but a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/planned-parenthood-says-marilyn-monroe-film-blonde-is-too-pro-life\/\" title=\"Planned Parenthood Says Marilyn Monroe Film \u201cBlonde\u201d Is Too Pro-Life\">fully formed baby<\/a> she has lived with for nine months,&rdquo;   Democrat strategist Elizabeth Spiers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/12\/03\/opinion\/adoption-supreme-court-amy-coney-barrett.html?referringSource=articleShare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote in the New York Times in 2021<\/a>, as the high bench considered its decision on Mississippi&rsquo;s 15-week pro-life law.<\/p>\n<p>Outlets complain that lifesaving abortion restrictions amount to &ldquo;forced motherhood&rdquo; often <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/politics\/2024\/05\/inside-the-conservative-movement-to-promote-adoption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">smear pro-lifers<\/a> who support mothers giving their babies a chance at life outside the womb through adoption. The Washington Post also recently <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/rO1Di#selection-641.127-645.53\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chided<\/a> pro-lifers for encouraging the <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/28153742\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">91 percent of mothers<\/a> who, when they weren&rsquo;t pushed to end their child&rsquo;s life, <em>chose<\/em> to raise their babies &ldquo;in circumstances they would not otherwise choose.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>This lie is so pervasive that even happy adoptees like Biles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/olympics\/2021\/08\/10\/simone-biles-abortion-foster-care-social-media\/5554947001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">have bought into it.<\/a> <\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Yet, Biles still wouldn&rsquo;t change a thing because she realizes that the chance to thrive is far better than being stripped of her shot to survive.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I realize that my life could have turned out very differently,&rdquo; Biles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/voices\/2022\/10\/19\/simone-biles-shares-life-journey-led-friends-children-mentorship\/8121975001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in 2022. &ldquo;I am so grateful for all of the support I have received throughout my journey, and it has empowered me to share my experiences so I can help be a voice for others who may be struggling.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<h2>A Chance To Become A Champion<\/h2>\n<p>Yes, the foster system, like every other government-run institution, needs repair. And, yes, adoption is expensive and can carry the emotional scars that come with cutting the indisputable tether between kids and their biological parents. Without either, however, a one-of-a-kind athlete like Biles would have never made it to Rio, Tokyo, or Paris. In fact, she might not have made it out of the womb.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I wonder what my life would be like if none of this happened. I want to know why my mother did what she did,&rdquo;  Biles <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20230401054217\/https:\/\/time.com\/4352599\/simone-biles-next-generation-leaders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wondered to Time in 2016<\/a>. &ldquo;But those aren&rsquo;t questions for me because that was her lifestyle when I wasn&rsquo;t even born. I have everything I need so there are no blanks left unfilled.
