NOT A CHANCE\">general election<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Initial primary returns showed Ferguson way out in the lead with 49.5% of the vote, with Reichert garnering 27.92% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>Washington has long had a reputation as a solid Democratic stronghold and hasn&rsquo;t had a Republican governor in nearly 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>Washington&rsquo;s last Republican governor was John Spellman. He was elected in 1980 but was not reelected and since then Democrats have won 10 straight gubernatorial contests. With Gov. Jay Inslee retiring, Washington will get a new governor for the first time in 12 years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under Washington&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/good-news-three-of-ten-pro-impeachment-republicans-including-liz-cheney-already-have-primary-opponents\/\" title=\"Good News! Three of Ten Pro-Impeachment Republicans Including Liz Cheney ALREADY Have Primary Opponents\">primary system<\/a>,<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>the top two vote-getters advance to the November election, regardless of party.
