such as Wyss and George Soros, a Holocaust survivor, as &ldquo;part of a larger effort to paint wealthy Jews as sinister puppeteers.&rdquo; The <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240729204334\/https:\/\/www.jewishdemocracy.org\/resources-list\/what-is-zuckerbucks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>article<\/a> focused on the term &ldquo;Zuckerbucks&rdquo; that the GOP has used since 2020 to refer to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg&rsquo;s grants to election agencies that they argue promoted illegality.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;While the term may seem harmless, it has a dark side &mdash; as well as implications for Jews and for American democracy,&rdquo; Sofi Hersher Andorsky, vice president for strategy and communications at A More Perfect Union, wrote in the article. &ldquo;Even though Zuckerberg stopped providing donations to election offices, &lsquo;Zuckerbucks&rsquo; has continued to resonate as a coded allusion to wealthy Jews attempting to influence elections and seize power.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>There&rsquo;s just one problem: Wyss, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3004581\/hansjorg-wyss-hearing-foreign-influence-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>who has come under the spotlight<\/a> as lawmakers investigate foreign influence in elections, is not actually Jewish, a spokesperson for the billionaire confirmed to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Now, a correction note is affixed to the article by Andorsky, a former Twitter, now X, employee.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;An earlier version of this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-vows-liz-cheney-will-lose-her-house-seat\/\" title=\"Trump Vows Liz Cheney Will Lose Her House Seat\">article incorrectly stated<\/a> that Hansborg Wyss is Jewish,&rdquo; the correction, which misspelled Wyss&rsquo;s first name, <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240805171332\/https:\/\/www.jewishdemocracy.org\/resources-list\/what-is-zuckerbucks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>read<\/a>. &ldquo;A spokesman for Mr. Wyss confirmed he is not. The protests are being investigated by watchdog groups and GOP members of Congress over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2577245\/anti-israel-protests-fueled-by-terror-tied-dark-money-groups-national-security-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>national security<\/a> concerns. <\/p>\n<p>The Tides Center sponsors the Arab Resource &amp; Organizing Center, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3098852\/familiar-faces-left-wing-dark-money-groups-fuel-violent-dc-protest-backing-hamas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>helped coordinate<\/a> the recent violent protest in Washington, D.C., against Israel. The Tides Center and its affiliate, the Tides Foundation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2568235\/hamas-friendly-protest-groups-bankrolled-by-democratic-dark-money-juggernaut-tides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>also fund a charity<\/a> housing the Palestinian Youth Movement, Students for Justice in Palestine, and other anti-Israel activist hubs, tax records show. Soros is a financial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensocietyfoundations.org\/grants\/past?filter_keyword=tides+\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>backer<\/a> of the Tides Center and the Tides Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This pop-up group claims to care about democracy and Jews,&rdquo; said Scott Walter, president of the conservative Capital Research Center think tank. &ldquo;How ironic it&rsquo;s fiscally sponsored by a massive network of Democratic-aligned &lsquo;dark money&rsquo; that assists multiple groups supporting Hamas&rsquo;s crusade against Israel.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>A More Perfect Union did not reply to a request for comment. A source close to the group told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> it regrets the error and had wrong information about Wyss. A spokesperson for Wyss did not say whether he is religious or not. <\/p>\n<p>Wyss, 88, routes his fortune through a private foundation in D.C., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3004581\/hansjorg-wyss-hearing-foreign-influence-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>which has an affiliated advocacy and lobbying arm<\/a> funding left-wing causes. In recent years, Republicans have scrutinized his giving as they investigate alleged loopholes allowing foreign nationals to exert influence over elections.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Wyss, however, insists he is above board. In 2022, the Federal Election Commission notably found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3004581\/hansjorg-wyss-hearing-foreign-influence-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>that he made<\/a> $119,000 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/feds-sam-bankman-fried-diverted-customer-funds-to-donate-to-political-campaigns\/\" title=\"Feds: Sam Bankman-Fried Diverted Customer Funds to Donate to Political Campaigns\">illegal political donations<\/a> between 1990 and 2006.
