Santiago\/Pool Photo via AP, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While Justice Juan Merchan lifted parts of the gag order in May, Trump&rsquo;s legal team again appealed the restriction on July 30,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3107228\/trump-loses-gag-order-appeal-after-saying-it-helps-harriss-felon-attacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title> requesting<\/a> for it to be lifted so the former president could respond to Harris&rsquo;s claim that the presidential race is a choice between a prosecutor and a &ldquo;convicted felon.&rdquo;&nbsp;A federal judge slapped down a post-conviction challenge from Trump&rsquo;s legal team to remove his gag order on Thursday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As Trump reacted to the ruling the next day, he continued to request that &ldquo;the Gag Order should be voided at once.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Based on the Immunity Decision just handed down by the United States Supreme Court, and for many other reasons, this case should be IMMEDIATELY terminated!&rdquo; Trump said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/?d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since Trump&rsquo;s historic New York criminal conviction in May, Harris has seized on his conviction as fodder for her campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Before I was elected as vice president, I was a courtroom prosecutor,&rdquo; Harris&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/video\/2024\/jul\/22\/kamala-harris-donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> in July. &ldquo;In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds.
