Not technically, since we don&rsquo;t have czars in the United States. Everyone knows that. When Joe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/03\/24\/remarks-by-president-biden-and-vice-president-harris-in-a-meeting-on-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">promised<\/a> Kamala would &ldquo;lead our efforts&rdquo; to fix the border crisis, what he really meant was that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: &#039;Pipeline&#039; to Obama Admin Seen as &#039;Currency&#039;\">vice president<\/a> would research some of the &ldquo;root causes&rdquo; during weekends, and maybe take a few diplomatic trips or whatnot. But <em>czar<\/em>, c&rsquo;mon. <\/p>\n<p>And though &ldquo;czar&rdquo; has been the informal title for high-level presidential appointments for a century, the concept is apparently baffling. &ldquo;Why Republicans Keep Calling Kamala Harris the &lsquo;Border Czar&rsquo;&rdquo; The New York Times, a publication that&rsquo;s referred to administration officials as &ldquo;czars&rdquo; for decades, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/07\/17\/us\/politics\/kamala-harris-border-czar.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">compelled<\/a> to explain to its suddenly perplexed readers. The upstarts at Axios went in a different direction, retroactively <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/26\/by-denying-kamala-harris-border-czar-role-media-admits-biden-harris-immigration-policy-is-a-total-failure\/#:~:text=Numerous%20other%20legacy%20media%20outlets,speaks%2C%20she%20speaks%20for%20me.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">correcting<\/a> pieces that called Kamala a czar.<\/p>\n<p>Do you remember that time Harris helped bail out BLM rioters during the summer of 2020?<\/p>\n<p>Nah, you don&rsquo;t.<\/p>\n<p>Because, as one CBS&rsquo;s affiliate <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/26\/cbs-denies-kamala-harris-raised-money-to-bail-out-blm-rioters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explains<\/a>, Harris didn&rsquo;t, you know, technically give any money to Minnesota Freedom Fund, she merely made some innocuous fundraising appeals to her millions of followers to raise money to help bail out violent rioters. If you can&rsquo;t see the distinction, they can&rsquo;t help you.<\/p>\n<p>Of course rewriting history with pedantic hyper-literal fact checks is just one of the many techniques that will be used by the media to create this new compelling presidential candidate named &ldquo;Kamala Harris.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Another method is to allow the candidate to simply rewrite her own history. Example: The other day, The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/4795337-kamala-harris-fracking-ban-stance\/#:~:text=Vice%20President%20Kamala%20Harris%20will,running%20for%20president%20last%20cycle.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> that &ldquo;Harris does not support fracking ban: Campaign official,&rdquo; which is an incredibly random declaration, right? Politico went even dumber, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/opinion\/politicos-bizarre-framing-provides-political-cover-for-kamala-harriss-fracking-flip-flop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noting<\/a> that &ldquo;Harris campaign pledges she won&rsquo;t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/were-not-going-to-ban-fracking-biden-mumbles-through-climate-change-presser-signs-more-executive-orders-then-calls-a-lid-video\/\" title=\"\u201cWe\u2019re Not Going to Ban Fracking\u201d \u2013 Biden Mumbles Through Climate Change Presser, Signs More Executive Orders \u2013 Then Calls a Lid (VIDEO)\">ban fracking<\/a> after Trump accusation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>By &ldquo;Trump accusation,&rdquo; Politico means that Harris promised, unequivocally and on the record, to ban fracking nationally. Referring to it as an &ldquo;accusation&rdquo; insinuates that it&rsquo;s a debatable point rather than a problematic reality.<\/p>\n<p>When Mitt Romney conveniently moved to-and-fro <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/OTUS\/mitt-romneys-abortion-evolution\/story?id=17443452\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2011\/11\/29\/142827112\/mitt-romneys-evolution-on-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issue<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/news\/amy-davidson\/a-quantum-theory-of-romneys-abortion-position\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortion<\/a>, the media dissected his personal evolution and sincerity in hundreds of pieces. Trump may have moderated his abortion stance, but not a single Democrat will be corrected for falsely accusing him of supporting a national ban. But I assure you, if you maintain Kamala is pro-fracking you will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-staff-told-us-he-misspoke-joe-biden-confuses-his-agenda-in-60-minutes-interview-so-his-staff-steps-in-to-correct-the-record-video\/\" title=\"&quot;Biden&#039;s Staff Told Us He Misspoke&quot; - Joe Biden Confuses His Agenda in 60 Minutes Interview so His Staff Steps in to Correct the Record (VIDEO)\">fact checked<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s as 2020 never happened. Kamala will never be asked to explain her &ldquo;evolution.&rdquo; As her  extremist positions int he Senate and as a primary candidate become untenable, she will be allowed to untether herself from the past. Or, even better, she can simply ignore them.<\/p>\n<p>To understand the narrative-building powers of the political media, note that JD Vance&rsquo;s silly comment about childless cat ladies has now dominated the political conversation &mdash; defining him to millions of voters &mdash; while Harris&rsquo;s embrace of a wide range of <em>utterly authoritarian nutso half-baked <\/em>policy ideas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/despite-insistence-by-democrat-politicians-and-medical-elites-empirical-evidence-does-not-conclusively-show-that-masks-reduce-the-spread-of-covid\/\" title=\"Despite Insistence by Democrat Politicians and Medical Elites, Empirical Evidence DOES NOT Conclusively Show that Masks Reduce the Spread of COVID\">hasn&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t even been discussed.<\/p>\n<p>Kamala endorsed the Green New Deal, and has never distanced herself from it. The Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez-penned <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2019\/02\/07\/ten-most-insane-requirements-green-new-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plan<\/a> not only proposes banning all air travel, meat, and most combustible engines, it promises every American who is &ldquo;unable or unwilling&rdquo; to work a check, among dozens of other socialist prescriptions.<\/p>\n<p>We haven&rsquo;t even gotten so much as a press release from Kamala assuring us that she never supported this insanity.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, the cat lady thing is super important, but will the media ask Kamala if she plans on upholding her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/04\/22\/us\/politics\/kamala-harris-gun-control.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">promise<\/a> to ban guns without Congress? Or to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/07\/23\/opinion\/kamala-harris-wont-fix-bidens-open-border-she-doesnt-even-think-illegal-immigration-is-a-crime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decriminalize<\/a> illegal border crossings? Or explain why she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2020-election\/kamala-harris-wants-end-private-health-insurance-new-democratic-litmus-n964241\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supported<\/a> eliminating all private insurance? Or why she thinks &ldquo;radical Islamic terrorism&rdquo; isn&rsquo;t <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/kamala-the-language-cop-harris-urges-end-to-terms-radical-islamic-terrorism-illegal-alien\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a real thing<\/a>? Or why she believes all Americans <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/byronyork\/status\/1818004934572253312?s=46&amp;t=iqVGJ7p59_ixT6pAAvvDQA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">should<\/a> &ldquo;end up in the same place&rdquo; rather than start with the same opportunities?<\/p>\n<p>Vance will live with his cat lady comment in perpetuity while Harris has yet, as far as I can tell, to explain why she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/kamala-harris-supported-defund-police-2020-radio-interview-before-biden-campaign-said-otherwise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supports<\/a> defunding the police. Though I suppose we were already subjected to a round of gaslighting over the real meaning of &ldquo;defund,&rdquo; which is layered and nuanced and probably beyond the comprehension of anyone who hasn&rsquo;t confessed their racial sins.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PopBase\/status\/1817929178525929688\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">welcome to Kamalot<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, none of this is to mention the shameless unctuous and sycophantic political coverage of Harris &mdash; a starry coronation the likes of which we haven&rsquo;t seen since the media was shining Barack Obama&rsquo;s halo.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I&rsquo;m skeptical that the social media excitement over Kamala&rsquo;s surging &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Zi6qDJ3pDEQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grassroots<\/a>&rdquo; candidacy is real. No doubt, professional Democrats are happy to have a candidate who can walk up a flight of stairs and deliver a speech in a dialect other than slurry mumble. Are normal people? This situation also highlights the excessively flattering political coverage surrounding Harris\u2014a spectacle reminiscent of how Barack Obama was treated by mainstream media during his rise.<\/p>\n<p>I remain doubtful about whether social media enthusiasm surrounding Kamala&#8217;s so-called grassroots candidacy is genuine; professional Democrats may appreciate having someone capable of delivering coherent speeches without stumbling through them\u2014but do average citizens feel similarly?
