The interview, conducted before Vance announced his\u2063 Senate\u200c candidacy, featured him discussing the need for conservatives to adopt more aggressive strategies to \u2062regain power. Vance supports a conservative think tank&rsquo;s project to staff the next administration.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, the Harris campaign published an interview between Vance with then-Federalist Publisher Ben Domenech and then-Editor Chris Bedford to allege the Republican senator from Ohio &ldquo;completely endorses Project 2025.&rdquo; The podcast, however, was taped and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/05\/18\/why-j-d-vance-is-very-seriously-considering-a-senate-bid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a> before Vance had even launched his Senate candidacy and almost a year before the Heritage Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/press\/heritage-announces-2025-presidential-transition-project-hiring-paul-dans-direct-new\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unveiled<\/a> its project.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In a stunning new leak,&rdquo; a Harris campaign account wrote on X of the public clip, &ldquo;JD Vance completely endorses Project 2025. Donald Trump can&rsquo;t turn run from this now.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Harris campaign is falsely representing this interview, which took place before Vance even announced a run for the Senate and years before Project 2025 existed. The businessman-turned-turned lawmaker referenced efforts to expand the Supreme Court and the number of members in the Senate as examples where incumbent Democrats are ruthlessly eager to maintain their grip on the country.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think the challenge confronting American conservatives is that we have lost every major powerful institution in the country,&rdquo; Vance said, &ldquo;except for maybe churches and religious institutions which of course are weaker now than they&rsquo;ve ever been.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have lost big business, we&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/reports-president-trump-is-traveling-to-gettysburg-to-meet-with-gop-lawmakers\/\" title=\"Reports: President Trump Is Traveling to Gettysburg to Meet with GOP Lawmakers\">ve lost<\/a> finance, we&rsquo;ve lost the culture, we&rsquo;ve lost the Academy,&rdquo; Vance added. &ldquo;If we&rsquo;re going to actually really affect real change in the country, it will require us completely replacing the existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-football-analogy-to-explain-democrats-election-cheating\/\" title=\"A Football Analogy to Explain Democrats&#039; Election Cheating\">ruling class<\/a> with another ruling class.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Vance hammered identity politics in the same interview, admonishing politicians like Vice President Kamala Harris who lecture white Americans dying of opioid overdoses as &ldquo;privileged.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We know of course that opioids overdoses, while they touch all walks of life, they are disproportionately concentrated among working class white Americans,&rdquo; Vance said. &ldquo;If you&rsquo;re talking constantly about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/graham-how-to-blow-up-the-lefts-terrorist-narrative\/\" title=\"GRAHAM: How to Blow Up The Left\u2019s Terrorist Narrative\">white privilege<\/a>, I think what you&rsquo;re doing is you&rsquo;re using that as a cudgel against people who are really suffering whether they&rsquo;re overdosing themselves or their communities are affected by these drugs, and it gives you an excuse to ignore them.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2>Project 2025<\/h2>\n<p>The Harris campaign published the clip to charge Vance with promoting what&rsquo;s become a boogeyman of the far-left. In 2022, the Heritage Foundation unveiled a nearly 1,000-page proposal for the next Republican administration that includes recommendations for policy changes and personnel.<\/p>\n<p>The think tank&rsquo;s project became a vehicle of leftist fearmongering this summer when far-left pundits fabricated a list of the project&rsquo;s claims. President Joe Biden, for example, warned supporters that Project 2025 represents a &ldquo;dangerous takeover&rdquo; of the federal government by Republicans who want to &ldquo;enact a national abortion ban.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;A national abortion ban is nowhere to be found in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/static.project2025.org\/2025_MandateForLeadership_FULL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">policy outline<\/a>,&rdquo; Federalist intern Monroe Harless <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/11\/democrats-continue-to-spew-lies-about-the-contents-of-project-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corrected <\/a>this month, &ldquo;which insists conservatives should &lsquo;recogn[ize] the many women who find themselves in immensely difficult and often tragic situations.&#8217;&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Federalist Senior Editor David Harsanyi also reviewed the Heritage Foundation&rsquo;s proposed agenda, comparing it with claims made by the leftist media.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Project 2025 is not a game, it&rsquo;s white Christian nationalism,&rdquo; Marvel star Mark Ruffalo&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MarkRuffalo\/status\/1807917298780627038\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">warned<\/a>.&nbsp;&ldquo;It is the Sharia Law of the &lsquo;Christian&rsquo; crazy people who aren&rsquo;t Christian at all but want to control every aspect of your life through their narrow and exclusionary interpretation of Christ&rsquo;s egalitarian, inclusive, and kindly teachings.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>But &ldquo;The policy guide features eight mentions of &lsquo;God&rsquo; in the entire document, most of those noting our &lsquo;God-given individual rights to live freely,&#8217;&rdquo; Harsanyi noted. &ldquo;Though this might be offensive to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/27\/if-this-is-christian-nationalism-sign-me-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Politico writers<\/a>&nbsp;or &lsquo;New Right&rsquo; intellectuals who&rsquo;ve abandoned &lsquo;liberalism,&rsquo; it is one of the foundational ideas of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist and the author of Social Justice Redux, a conservative newsletter on culture, health, and wellness. He continued by stating that conservatives have lost ground in big business, finance, culture, and academia: &#8220;To truly effect change in our country will require us to replace the current ruling class with another.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In that same interview, he criticized identity politics while addressing politicians like Vice President Kamala Harris who label white Americans suffering from opioid overdoses as \u201cprivileged.\u201d He noted that while opioid overdoses affect various demographics, they disproportionately impact working-class white Americans: &#8220;If you constantly talk about white privilege&#8230; you\u2019re using it against people who are genuinely suffering.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Harris campaign used this clip to accuse Vance of promoting what has become a target for far-left criticism. In 2022, the Heritage Foundation introduced an extensive proposal for future Republican administrations containing policy recommendations and personnel suggestions.<\/p>\n<p>This project became fodder for leftist alarmism during summer when some commentators fabricated claims about it.
