Many of the groups touted Harris&rsquo;s past as a prosecutor in San Francisco, one of the nation&rsquo;s foremost gay cities.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;A Harris Administration would not only uphold but also expand upon the protections for transgender Americans established by the Biden Administration,&rdquo; Advocates for Trans Equality <a href=\"https:\/\/transequality.org\/news\/advocates-trans-equality-endorses-vice-president-kamala-harris-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said in a statement<\/a> endorsing Harris for president. &ldquo;Her leadership promises to fortify and enhance the efforts to address and meet the needs of transgender people, ensuring continued progress in our nation&rsquo;s history of civil rights.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Human Rights Campaign, the nation&rsquo;s largest and most powerful gay lobby, also threw their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/press-releases\/human-rights-campaign-joins-president-biden-in-endorsing-kamala-harris-for-president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>support<\/a> behind Harris saying she would be a trusted activist for their priorities in office.<\/p>\n<p>The White House has been a top national advocate for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2799892\/pediatric-gender-transition-doctors-puberty-blockers-irreversible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>irreversible<\/a> gender transition procedures and drugs for children in the country, despite the fact that there is little evidence the interventions work, and a growing amount of evidence that they are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/870797\/us-pediatricians-reaffirm-child-gender-transition-policy-as-europe-sounds-alarm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>actually harmful<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The intersection on the issue of reproductive care and trans care, and the ability of families to be able to have care for their children and their families, is really, again, an intersection around attacks that are on an identity,&rdquo;&nbsp;Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advocate.com\/exclusives\/exclusive-vice-president-kamala-harris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>told<\/a> the <em>Advocate<\/em> in 2023, speaking about the &ldquo;significant overlap&rdquo; between gender transitions and abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the White House came under fire from transgender activists after a spokesperson told <em>The 19th<\/em> that the administration opposes gender transition surgeries for children.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We continue to fight state and national bans on gender-affirming care, which represents a continuum of care, and respect the role of parents, families, and doctors &mdash; not politicians &mdash; in these decisions. Gender-affirming surgeries are typically reserved for adults, and we believe they should be,&rdquo; White House Domestic Policy Council director Neera Tanden said at first.<\/p>\n<p>After the backlash from the HRC demanding affirmation of gender transitions for children, the Biden administration backpedaled and clarified that it did, in fact, support the invasive surgeries for children. Tanden issued a statement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advocate.com\/politics\/white-house-gender-care-clarification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>saying<\/a> the administration would fight laws barring the surgeries for children and reiterating that governments should not be in the position to block them if parents and doctors agree it is the correct course of action, despite the dearth of medical evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The White House and Harris typically post a supportive message on social media for transitions on &ldquo;Transgender Day of Visibility.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>On that day in 2022, Harris, her husband Douglas Emhoff, and female-identifying biological male Admiral Rachel Levine, Assistant Secretary for Health of the Department of Health and Human Services, welcomed children claiming transgender identity to the White House and vowed support for medical interventions.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Deeply impactful to speak to some amazing trans kids at the White House. Gender affirming care is the medical standard and allows these kids to be themselves and live a normal life,&rdquo; Levine <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HHS_ASH\/status\/1509625157354151945\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>posted<\/a> to social media. &ldquo;To all trans kids: we see and support you.
