The Vermont senator has spoken with Harris but still stopped short of an endorsement. “I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that Donald Trump — the most dangerous president in American history — is not elected,” Sanders said in an interview with WMUR Friday. “I’m gonna do everything I can to make sure that Kamala Harris is elected. Reps. Jared Goldman (D-ME), Yadira Caraveo (D-CO), Don Davis (D-NC), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA), and Henry Cuellar (D-TX) were the other five Democrats who joined Republicans in a 220-196 vote.

Caraveo, however, has said that she is “eager” to support Harris’s quest to win the White House.

Texas Democratic Rep. Despite Vice President Kamala Harris having secured more than the 1,976 delegates required to be considered the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee ahead of next month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago, several notable and at-risk Democrats have yet to support her campaign following President Joe Biden’s unexpected withdrawal from the race on Sunday.

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a well-known progressive and former presidential candidate in 2016 and 2020, has not yet endorsed Harris. In an interview with MSNBC’s Ali Velshi on Friday, he expressed his intention to assist her but emphasized the need for her to listen to working-class Americans and progressives. He outlined specific leftist policies he hopes she will advocate for during her campaign, such as expanding Medicare coverage for dental and vision care and canceling all student debt. Although Sanders has communicated with Harris, he refrained from formally endorsing her: “I’m going to do everything I can to ensure that Donald Trump — the most dangerous president in American history — is not elected,” he stated during a WMUR interview on Friday.

Senator Jon Tester (D-MT), who is among the most vulnerable incumbents in Congress, also remains undecided about endorsing Harris. Other Democrats joining this condemnation included Reps. Jared Goldman (D-ME), Yadira Caraveo (D-CO), Don Davis (D-NC), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA), and Henry Cuellar (D-TX). However, Caraveo has expressed enthusiasm about supporting Harris’s presidential bid.

Texas Representative Vicente Gonzalez mentioned his desire for more clarity from Harris regarding border policies: “I want details about how we plan to improve conditions at the border,” he said while noting that his team had not reached out.

Representative Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) stated she would hold off endorsing until a strong vice-presidential candidate emerged—preferably someone from battleground states like Michigan or Pennsylvania who could resonate with Midwest voters: “We’ve been overlooked too long; I won’t settle just for any candidate.”

In contrast, Rep.
