Mendoza-Martinez had been convicted of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/woman-tries-new-strategy-kill-bedbugs-admits-manslaughter-11-year-old-neighbor-soon-drops-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">manslaughter<\/a> in May 2010 and was deported back to Mexico less than two months after an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/venezuelan-gang-members-arrested-thousands-of-miles-from-border\/\" title=\"Venezuelan gang members apprehended far from border\">immigration judge ordered<\/a> him to be removed from the country in May 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Mendoza-Martinez presumably <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/illegal-accused-triple-murder-burning-victims-death-deported-3-times\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">re-entered the U.S. illegally<\/a> and without detection, as he had further run-ins with local law enforcement years after his deportation, according to ICE.<\/p>\n<p>Durham police arrested Mendoza-Martinez in April 2021 and again in June 2024, charging him both times with domestic violence and assault on a woman, according to the agency.
