U.S. and Canadian aircraft were involved in the interception, though NORAD clarified that the foreign planes did not violate U.S. or Canadian airspace. NORAD does not consider these aircraft a threat, but it continues to monitor foreign military \u200dactivities near North America, which is\u200c a common occurrence. It&rsquo;s not uncommon for Russian aircraft to fly into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Alaska\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Alaska<\/a>&lsquo;s Air Defense Identification Zone (AZID), which is where sovereign airspace ends and is a defined stretch of international airspace that requires aircraft to readily identify itself in the interest of national security.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Telegram it and the People&rsquo;s Liberation Army, the Chinese military, carried out an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/l-a-democrat-says-most-fires-are-started-by-housed-individuals-after-homeless-man-charged-with-arson-in-palisades-fire\/\" title=\"L.A. Democrat Says Most Fires Are Started By \u2018Housed Individuals\u2019 After Homeless Man Charged With Arson In Palisades Fire\">air patrol<\/a> over the Chukchi Sea, Bering Sea waters, and the northern part of the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n<p>The aircraft involved in the exercise, which lasted more than five hours, obeyed international law and did not violate the airspace of any foreign country, according to the ministry.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In March, the head of U.S. Northern Command, Gen. Gregory Guillot, warned that China has a &ldquo;willingness and a desire&rdquo; to &ldquo;act up there.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have seen them in the maritime,&rdquo; he told the Senate Armed Services Committee at the time. &ldquo;We have seen them under the cloud of a technical or scientific research, but we think it is certainly multi-mission, to include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/military\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>military<\/a>.&nbsp;And then I expect to see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dramatic-rescue-boeing-cargo-plane-makes-emergency-landing-in-waters-off-of-hawaii\/\" title=\"Dramatic Rescue: Boeing Cargo Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Waters Off Of Hawaii\">air activity<\/a> in the Alaska part of the Arctic as soon as this year, potentially.
