(AP Photo\/Charles Krupa)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The introduction of assigned seating was hinted at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/04\/25\/southwest-weighing-cabin-changes-to-drive-revenue.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>earlier this year<\/a> by Southwest Airlines CEO Bob Jordan, who said the airline was looking at &ldquo;new initiatives&rdquo; to satisfy customers. Hong)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Southwest Airlines experienced a net income of $367 million in its second quarter, an improved performance from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swamedia.com\/releases\/release-f9b0d09b13627fa65cf1f5e65d0c91db-southwest-airlines-reports-first-quarter-2024-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>the $231 million net loss<\/a> from its previous quarter but still &ldquo;short of what we believe we are capable of delivering,&rdquo; Jordan said. However, he added that Southwest Airlines is &ldquo;excited about what the future holds.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In April, Southwest Airlines announced it would close its operations at four airports, citing its &ldquo;disappointing&rdquo; performance in the first 2024 quarter.
