So to blame\u2064 Trump for the \u2064Secret Service&#8217;s struggles to protect him at \u200bthese events is absurd.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore,\u200b the idea that the Secret Service is threatening\u2064 Trump by asking him to stop doing outdoor rallies is alarming. It suggests a level of political interference \u200bin security\u200c operations \u2064that should be deeply concerning to all Americans. If the agency \u200dtasked with protecting our leaders is \u2062being used as a \u2062tool to manipulate \u200celection outcomes, we are in a very dangerous place \u2064as a \u2064country.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s clear that there are forces\u2062 within \u2062the government and the \u2063media that\u200c are working against Trump and his supporters. But \u2062as \u200dlong\u2064 as there\u200b are patriots like \u2062End Wokeness and Sean Davis \u2062speaking out against these injustices, we can hope to push back against the tyranny that threatens our democracy.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The same agency that failed to protect former President Donald Trump from a would-be assassin&rsquo;s bullet is now asking the GOP&rsquo;s presidential candidate to stop holding large outdoor campaign rallies. The request from the grossly incompetent (at best) federal agency stinks of election interference and sounds a lot like a threat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As The Washington Post first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/07\/23\/trump-rallies-secret-service-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> Tuesday evening, the U.S. Secret Service is &ldquo;encouraging&rdquo; the Trump campaign to halt the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pastor-high-school-coach-among-nearly-80-people-arrested-in-sex-trafficking-sting-operation\/\" title=\"Pastor, High School Coach Among Nearly 80 People Arrested In Sex Trafficking Sting Operation\">large-scale events<\/a> his supporters have grown accustomed to.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In the aftermath of the shooting, agents from the Secret Service communicated their concerns about large outdoor rallies going forward to Trump campaign advisers, three people familiar with the matter said,&rdquo; the Post<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/07\/23\/trump-rallies-secret-service-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> reported<\/a>, not naming its sources. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s team, at least according to the Post story, is scouting larger indoor arenas to accommodate thousands of rallygoers. The campaign &ldquo;is not currently planning any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/i-am-beyond-furious-oregon-kindergarteners-reportedly-forced-to-eat-lunch-outside-in-40-degree-weather\/\" title=\"\u2018I Am Beyond Furious\u2019: Oregon Kindergarteners Reportedly Forced To Eat Lunch Outside In 40-Degree Weather\">large outdoor events<\/a>, a person close to Trump said.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Secret Service did not return an email from The Federalist requesting comment, nor did an official from the Trump campaign. So it&rsquo;s not clear whether the agency has made the same requests of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/23\/by-the-way-kamala-harris-is-a-dangerous-authoritarian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vice President Kamala Harris,<\/a> the Democrat Party establishment&rsquo;s anointed fill-in for President Joe Biden after the cognitively depleted executive&rsquo;s X account posted a statement announcing he is <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/21\/if-biden-cannot-run-for-office-then-he-cannot-remain-in-office\/#:~:text=But%20if%20Biden%20cannot%20run,senile%20to%20remain%20in%20office.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dropping out of the campaign<\/a>. If the Trump-hating Post asked that question, it didn&rsquo;t report the answer in its story.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>&lsquo;Direct Threat&rsquo;<\/h2>\n<p>House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6359009284112\">Fox News <\/a>that it &ldquo;would be a shame&rdquo; if the Secret Service shut down the outdoor rallies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think people enjoy going to them and I think, you know, you can get more people outdoors than indoors,&rdquo; Comer said. &ldquo;He attracts a big crowd, obviously. I think the president will do what the president wants to do.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Others were more pointed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If I saw this in The Babylon Bee it&rsquo;d make far more sense,&rdquo; Sen. The Post&rsquo;s narrative is anything but subtle: Trump &mdash;&nbsp;and his penchant for massive campaign rallies &mdash; is to blame for his near-assassination.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The rallies have long been viewed as onerous by the Secret Service because they include complicated outdoor venues with thousands &mdash; if not tens of thousands &mdash; of people,&rdquo; the Post&rsquo;s Josh Dawsey writes. &ldquo;Most other former presidents rarely appear in public, and when they do, they usually appear in settings such as conferences and restaurants with fewer people. Trump requires a much larger security footprint than other past presidents because he holds so many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-covid-adviser-cant-explain-why-ca-and-fl-have-similar-numbers-despite-different-approaches\/\" title=\"Biden COVID Adviser Can\u2019t Explain Why CA And FL Have Similar Numbers Despite Different Approaches\">large events<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>But Trump isn&rsquo;t merely a former president showing up to a haughty cocktail party with D.C. elites. Does the current president? As the Post notes, Trump&rsquo;s rallies are so much more than standard campaign events. They&rsquo;re how the political outsider has campaigned for the better part of a decade. He loves it. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve seen from the early days of his presidency even, and before that during his first campaign in 2016, how important crowd size is to him. It gives him a lot of joy and energy being with large crowds. He feeds off their energy. It&rsquo;s almost like a source of comfort for him,&rdquo; Sarah Matthews, who served as deputy press secretary in the Trump White House, told the Post.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Shutting down the outdoor events would smack of election interference, a way to stymie a successful means of campaigning.<\/p>\n<p>Harris made her first campaign stop as the Democrats&rsquo; presumptive top of the ticket on Tuesday in suburban Milwaukee at a high school. The Associated Press boasted about the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/harris-election-president-wisconsin-democrats-012c6474b8b23960d2cf616e92989a4b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;roaring Wisconsin crowd&rdquo;<\/a> but didn&rsquo;t bother to report on the turnout.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>&lsquo;Questions Building&rsquo;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n<p>Trump rallies have been made all the more &ldquo;onerous&rdquo; for the Secret Service because the agency has repeatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/wireStory\/secret-service-acknowledges-denying-past-requests-trumps-campaign-112137986\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">denied the Trump campaign&rsquo;s requests for tighter security<\/a>. That fact, among many others coming to light, explains in part why a 20-year-old gunman was able to climb onto the roof of a nearby building at Trump&rsquo;s rally earlier this month in Butler, Pennsylvania, and fire several rounds at the former president and the crowd before being fatally shot by a Secret Service sniper. The shooter struck the GOP presidential hopeful in the ear, injured two rallygoers, and killed another.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/23\/secret-service-director-kimberly-cheatle-resigns-in-disgrace-more-than-a-week-after-attempt-on-trumps-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resigned <\/a>Tuesday after a<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/23\/biden-praises-secret-service-director-who-allowed-trump-to-get-shot-in-the-head\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> heated congressional hearing <\/a>the day before in which she acknowledged that agents were informed of a suspicious person on the grounds multiple times before the shooter fired. The Secret Service knew the roof, within 150 yards of the rally stage, was a point of vulnerability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Late Tuesday, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/news\/news-releases\/grassley-releases-newly-obtained-video-records-in-aftermath-of-trump-assassination-attempt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">released <\/a>law enforcement body camera footage that shows officers on the roof where the gunman opened fire. Counter-snipers are seen speaking to a Secret Service agent while the gunman is lying on the roof, blood streaming near his apparently lifeless body.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/against-protest-songs-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Against protest songs - Washington Examiner\">footage starts<\/a> while the officers are discussing if the dead man next to them is the same one seen in a photo sent out by a member of Beaver County&rsquo;s sniper team,&rdquo; Newsweek <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/body-camera-video-rooftop-after-trump-shooting-raises-eyebrows-1929375\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported.<\/a> &ldquo;Reports previously surfaced that there were<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/secret-service-snipers-saw-matthew-crooks-before-trump-shooting-report-1925591\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> three snipers stationed in the building<\/a> that [shooter Timothy] Crooks scaled to shoot at Trump. One of those officers spotted Crooks before the shooting and reported a &lsquo;suspicious person&rsquo; in the minutes leading up to the assassination attempt. That sniper also took a photo of Crooks.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The video was obtained from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit in compliance with congressional requests. The same cannot be said for the Secret Service and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/evidence-mounts-that-capitol-breach-was-pre-planned-eroding-incitement-allegation-in-trump-impeachment-trial\/\" title=\"Evidence Mounts that Capitol Breach Was Pre-Planned, Eroding Incitement Allegation in Trump Impeachment Trial\">federal law enforcement agencies<\/a>, which have thus far <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/22\/after-firing-himself-biden-still-wont-fire-failed-secret-service-chief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refused to release records <\/a>related to the assassination attempt. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;For the past 10 days, questions have only been building regarding the catastrophic security failure that occurred on July 13. Federal agencies, particularly the Secret Service, have failed to be transparent with the American people,&rdquo; Grassley, ranking member on the Senate&rsquo;s Budget Committee, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/news\/news-releases\/grassley-releases-newly-obtained-video-records-in-aftermath-of-trump-assassination-attempt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
