State-level\u200c Democrats are \u2064also pushing\u2063 for dangerous policies that undermine election security.<\/p>\n<p>In states like\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/news\/releases\/ag-paxton-texas-supreme-court-rules-drivers-licenses-citizenship-confirmation-needed-voter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Texas<\/a>, \u200cefforts to prevent non-citizens\u2062 from voting are being challenged by \u200dDemocrats who are advocating for \u200blooser voter\u200d ID laws. The state&#8217;s Attorney General, Ken Paxton, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/news\/releases\/ag-paxton-texas-supreme-court-rules-drivers-licenses-citizenship-confirmation-needed-voter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vocal<\/a> about the need to maintain strict voter \u200bID requirements to protect the integrity of \u2063the electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courant.com\/politics\/hc-pol-about-new-hartford-election-20181018-gxnhn2yh2ff7hicejlwu6bg7qu-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Connecticut<\/a>,\u200b Democrats are also pushing back against efforts to\u200d ensure the accuracy of voter rolls. Last year, the state&#8217;s Republican Party <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courant.com\/politics\/hc-pol-about-new-hartford-election-20181018-gxnhn2yh2ff7hicejlwu6bg7qu-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed a lawsuit<\/a> arguing that the Secretary of State&#8217;s office was not \u200bdoing\u200d enough to maintain accurate\u200b voter registration lists.<\/p>\n<p>These examples are \u2064just a snapshot of the broader assault \u200don election security that is happening across the\u200b country. \u200cIf \u2062left unchecked, \u2062these efforts to dismantle safeguards\u2062 designed to protect the integrity of our elections could have devastating consequences for our democracy.<\/p>\n<h2>Protecting the Integrity of Our Elections<\/h2>\n<p>It is imperative\u2062 that we \u200cpush back against these attacks on\u200b election security and work to ensure\u2064 that every vote is counted accurately and fairly. Voter \u2062ID laws, accurate voter rolls,\u200c and other safeguards are essential components of a healthy democracy, and \u2063we \u2064must\u200c do everything\u200b we can \u200bto \u2064protect them.<\/p>\n<p>As \u200dwe head into the midterm elections and beyond, let&#8217;s remain vigilant in defending\u200c the integrity of our \u200belectoral process. Our democracy depends on it.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>After receiving a round of high-profile endorsements &mdash; although not a single primary vote &mdash; Vice President Kamala Harris is the likely Democratic nominee for president. But as Biden&rsquo;s voting czar, Harris owns a record of federal meddling in elections and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-calls-out-democrats-new-form-of-cheating-as-house-republicans-attempt-to-fight-back\/\" title=\"Trump Accuses Democrats of New Cheating Method; House Republicans Respond\">attacking election integrity laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2021\/06\/01\/biden-puts-voting-rights-in-harris-portfolio-ahead-of-senate-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tapped<\/a> Harris to lead the administration&rsquo;s efforts related to voting shortly after taking office. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden-Harris administration has vehemently opposed measures to safeguard elections such as voter ID laws and laws preventing foreign nationals from voting in federal elections. Harris, both as a senator and vice president, has been vocal about her determination to dismantle any semblance of security in elections &mdash; a frightening foreshadowing of what could be to come should she win in November.<\/p>\n<h2>Federal Election Meddling<\/h2>\n<p>President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/03\/07\/executive-order-on-promoting-access-to-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">signed<\/a> Executive Order 14019 in March of 2021, directing federal agencies to meddle in elections by creating plans to &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-puts-susan-rice-in-charge-of-effort-to-expand-vote-by-mail\/\" title=\"Biden Puts Susan Rice in Charge of Effort to Expand Vote by Mail\">promote voter registration<\/a> and voter participation.&rdquo; The crux of the operation is that the agencies use taxpayer dollars &mdash; which were never appropriated for such a function by Congress &mdash; to target voting populations that are likely to vote for Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>One of the agencies carrying out the &ldquo;Bidenbucks&rdquo; order is the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/27\/bidenbucks-laundered-through-education-department-target-likely-biden-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Education<\/a>, which issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/fsapartners.ed.gov\/knowledge-center\/library\/dear-colleague-letters\/2024-02-26\/use-federal-work-study-funds-voter-registration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">memo<\/a> in February announcing Federal Work-Study funds could be used to pay students at government agencies to register voters or serve as poll watchers. Harris touted this program in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2024\/02\/27\/remarks-by-vice-president-harris-before-meeting-with-voting-rights-leaders-to-discuss-the-fight-for-voting-rights-and-other-fundamental-freedoms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">speech<\/a> the following day.<\/p>\n<p>Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2023\/09\/07\/vice-president-harris-launches-nationwide-fight-for-our-freedoms-college-tour-to-mobilize-students-and-young-people-in-the-fight-for-their-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">launched<\/a> a &ldquo;Fight for our Freedoms College Tour&rdquo; last September that also included mobilizing young voters &mdash; a pretty partisan enterprise when you consider that <a href=\"https:\/\/circle.tufts.edu\/2020-election-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more<\/a> than 6 in 10 voters aged 18-29 voted for Biden in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden-Harris White House is also meddling in elections via the Department of Health and Human Services, which complied with the administration&rsquo;s order by emailing instructions to everyone enrolling in the Affordable Care Act on &ldquo;how to register to vote,&rdquo; as Harris bragged during her February speech.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/15\/biden-order-instructing-federal-agencies-to-meddle-in-elections-is-unlawful-suit-alleges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Several<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/13\/bidenbucks-order-will-already-have-done-its-job-by-the-time-scotus-looks-at-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawsuits<\/a> have challenged the constitutionality of the federal election interference operation, but for now, it continues to use federal taxpayer dollars to conduct a get-out-the-vote operation designed to benefit Democrats.<\/p>\n<h2>Support for a Federal Takeover of Elections<\/h2>\n<p>Democrats have repeatedly tried to revive the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/07\/democrats-bill-would-give-the-doj-veto-power-over-state-and-local-election-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act<\/a>, which would strip states and local jurisdictions of much of their control over elections and allow the weaponized Department of Justice to override election integrity laws. <\/p>\n<p>The legislation would, for instance, permit the Justice Department to effectively seize control of elections where a voter ID law has been passed, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/election-integrity\/commentary\/against-the-john-lewis-voting-rights-advancement-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Heritage Foundation<\/a> explained. The Biden-Harris Department of Justice has been clear about its stance on voter ID laws, with Attorney General Merrick Garland <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/04\/biden-department-of-justice-declares-war-on-voter-id-and-other-election-security-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">boasting<\/a> this year of the department&rsquo;s efforts to challenge &ldquo;voter ID requirements.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Then there is the Freedom To Vote Act, which would, among other things, require same-day voter registration and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/only-democratic-representative-to-vote-against-h-r-1-election-bill-explains-decision\/\" title=\"Only Democratic Representative To Vote Against H.R. 1 Election Bill Explains Decision\">enact automatic voter registration<\/a> in each state. <\/p>\n<p>Harris has repeatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/08\/24\/statement-by-vice-president-kamala-harris-on-the-john-r-lewis-voting-rights-advancement-act\/#:~:text=This%20important%20step%20represents%20progress,protect%20voters%20across%20the%20country.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called<\/a> on Congress to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2024\/01\/09\/readout-of-vice-president-kamala-harriss-convening-with-voting-rights-leaders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pass<\/a> both pieces of legislation as both a senator and vice president. She also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardin.senate.gov\/press-releases\/cardin-van-hollen-introduce-john-lewis-voting-rights-advancement-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">co-sponsored<\/a> the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act while in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, Democrats also tried to push through H.R. 1, an 800-page bill that would overhaul our election system as we know it, as explained by The Federalist&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/03\/08\/15-insane-things-in-democrats-h-r-1-bill-to-corrupt-elections-forever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Joy Pullmann<\/a>. Among other things, H.R. 1 would mandate mail-in ballots, delay election results by requiring states to accept ballots for 10 days after Election Day, prevent cleanup of voter rolls, and mandate the insecure practice of ballot drop boxes. Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2021\/06\/22\/statement-by-vice-president-kamala-harris-on-the-for-the-people-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vowed<\/a> to &ldquo;fight&rdquo; for the legislation and to work with Congress to get the legislation passed.<\/p>\n<h2>Attacks on Election Integrity Laws<\/h2>\n<p>Harris has also used falsehoods to smear states like Georgia for their strong election integrity laws.<\/p>\n<p>The Peach State passed the Election Integrity Act of 2021, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.ga.gov\/api\/legislation\/document\/20212022\/201121\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">included<\/a> several provisions to safeguard elections such as requiring voters to show an ID to get an absentee ballot. In-person voters were already required to provide identification.<\/p>\n<p>Another provision prohibits &ldquo;line warming,&rdquo; which is when an individual hands out gifts, food, or water to voters waiting in line to persuade him. The legislation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/20521102-house-sub-to-sb-202\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">makes clear<\/a> that poll officers can still provide &ldquo;self-service water&rdquo; for &ldquo;an elector waiting in line to vote,&rdquo; in addition to voters bringing their own food and drink.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, during a January roundtable, Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2024\/01\/09\/remarks-by-vice-president-harris-before-roundtable-discussion-on-voting-rights-and-protections-with-advocates-and-leaders-atlanta-ga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">smeared<\/a> the legislation as one of Republicans&rsquo; &ldquo;anti-voter laws&rdquo; and claimed the law &ldquo;made it illegal to even provide food and water to people standing in line often for hours.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Harris&rsquo; record is clear: As Biden&rsquo;s voting czar, she has routinely opposed attempts to secure American elections and protect election integrity.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Brianna Lyman is an elections correspondent at The Federalist.
