noopener\">posted<\/a> to X on Sunday announced that President Joe Biden would not seek the Democrat nomination, Vice President Kamala Harris stands as the party&rsquo;s presumptive nominee &mdash; without receiving a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/by-the-way-kamala-harris-is-a-dangerous-authoritarian\/\" title=\"By The Way, Kamala Harris Is A Dangerous Authoritarian\">single primary vote<\/a> or delegate this election cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Before his withdrawal from the race and <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1815087772216303933\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endorsement<\/a> of Harris, the president had <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/projects\/election-results-2024\/delegate-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">earned<\/a> 3,896 pledged delegates, nearly double the amount required to clinch the nomination. Yet many lawmakers and political pundits have been calling for Biden to drop out of the race for weeks in the wake of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-mcconnell-isnt-expecting-the-gop-to-retake-the-senate\/\" title=\"Why McConnell Isn\u2019t Expecting the GOP to Retake the Senate\">disastrous debate performance<\/a> in June.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-19d534259781de71b39b982ef0bd2063 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-19d534259781de71b39b982ef0bd2063\"><\/div>\n<p>The Federalist reached out to all of the left-leaning lawmakers &mdash; 36 Democrats and one independent &mdash; who publicly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/democrats-call-biden-step-aside-tracking-updates-reactions-rcna160699\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called for Biden&rsquo;s withdrawal<\/a> and asked how they would ensure that their constituents&rsquo; voices were heard leading up to the Democratic National Convention.<\/p>\n<p>Only two offices responded, while the other 35 failed to comment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I respect President Biden&rsquo;s decision and believe it is the right thing to do for our country,&rdquo; Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont.,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tester.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/tester-statement-on-president-bidens-decision-not-to-seek-re-election\/#:~:text=U.S.%20Senator%20Jon%20Tester%20today,dedication%20to%20our%20great%20nation.%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;in a statement. &ldquo;Sharla and I thank him for his lifetime of public service and dedication to our great nation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Senator&rsquo;s staff clarified to The Federalist that he supports an open primary to select the nominee.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-32c407d22854a669d92a6780a6118fda fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-32c407d22854a669d92a6780a6118fda\"><\/div>\n<p>Rep. Ed Case, D-Hawaii, directed The Federalist to a previous statement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve had the time and discussions with my constituents, colleagues and others I needed before deciding on the Democratic nominee for President. I endorse Vice President Harris,&rdquo;&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/edcase.com\/\">said<\/a>&nbsp;Case.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Neither lawmaker commented directly on The Federalist&rsquo;s questioning regarding how Democrat voters who chose Biden in the primaries will be represented on the ballot in November.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, was the first lawmaker to call for Biden to halt his reelection campaign. Former President&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BillClinton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bill<\/a>&nbsp;Clinton, former Secretary of State and 2016 Democrat presidential nominee&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HillaryClinton\/status\/1815372593483911184\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hillary<\/a>&nbsp;Clinton, and former House Speaker&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TeamPelosi\/status\/1815439126512234707\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nancy<\/a>&nbsp;Pelosi all have endorsed Harris.<\/p>\n<p>Harris has reportedly secured the endorsement of almost 2,000 Democratic delegates, enough support to secure the nomination at the pre-convention virtual roll call vote,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c51ywewzpz2o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a>&nbsp;to the BBC.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The removal of Biden has left&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/21\/so-much-for-democracy-democrat-oligarchs-just-overthrew-their-own-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">14 million people<\/a>, in essence, disenfranchised, and the lawmakers who pushed for his removal have not revealed how they will fix it.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In simpler terms, Democratic primary voters who cast a ballot for Biden are now being told by a handful of D.C. elites that their votes were simply perfunctory,&rdquo;&nbsp;Federalist elections correspondent Brianna Lyman <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/21\/so-much-for-democracy-democrat-oligarchs-just-overthrew-their-own-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pointed out<\/a> in an article earlier this week.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e00f1beb22e3f392fbf017248d617376 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e00f1beb22e3f392fbf017248d617376\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Kamden Mulder is a summer intern at The Federalist.
