Sources familiar with the matter <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kthomasdc\/status\/1815556874063790575\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"told\">told<\/a> the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> that the major figures who were sent running mate vetting materials were Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Govs. Roy Cooper (D-NC), Josh Shapiro (D-PA), Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), Tim Walz (D-MN), and J.B. Notably, Pritzker said he had not received any vetting materials.<\/p>\n<p>A senior administration official <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/live-updates\/biden-drops-out-updates?utm_source=face%5B%E2%80%A6%5Dbcnews\/library\/media\/434489227&amp;entryId=112193865&amp;id=112113289\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"told\">told<\/a> ABC News on Tuesday that of those on the list, Shapiro and Kelly are at the top. Both are from key battleground states.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/andy-beshear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Andy Beshear\">Andy Beshear<\/a> (D-KY) said he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/despite-insistence-by-democrat-politicians-and-medical-elites-empirical-evidence-does-not-conclusively-show-that-masks-reduce-the-spread-of-covid\/\" title=\"Despite Insistence by Democrat Politicians and Medical Elites, Empirical Evidence DOES NOT Conclusively Show that Masks Reduce the Spread of COVID\">hasn&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t received vice presidential vetting materials, even though he was floated by many as one of the top candidates for the position.<\/p>\n<p>The lack of inclusion was confirmed by Beshear on Monday when he told CNN he hadn&rsquo;t been asked to submit information.<\/p>\n<p>The Kentucky governor was widely seen as campaigning for the running mate spot, appearing in interviews multiple times in the past week and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3095205\/andy-beshear-rips-jd-vance-having-no-conviction-trump-has-34\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"aggressively attacking\">aggressively attacking<\/a> the man who would be his opponent, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Well, first, he ought to call the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: &#039;Pipeline&#039; to Obama Admin Seen as &#039;Currency&#039;\">vice president<\/a> by her title. She earned it. She is Vice President Harris,&rdquo; Beshear said about Vance in an interview with CNN on Monday. &ldquo;But the second is the grasping for straws. Listen, J.D. Vance is a phony. He&rsquo;s fake. I mean,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3095141\/trump-addresses-vances-critical-comments-first-joint-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">he first says<\/a>&nbsp;that Donald Trump is like Hitler, and now he&rsquo;s acting like he&rsquo;s Lincoln. I mean, the problem with J.D.
