They have \u2063a right\u2063 to see him, to \u200bhear\u200c from him, to know that he is still in command and\u200b capable of fulfilling the duties of his office.<\/p>\n<p>It is not \u2063unreasonable for the \u2063public to demand transparency \u2062and accountability from their elected officials, especially when those officials hold such significant power and responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>If Joe \u200bBiden is truly on the mend and ready to resume \u200dhis duties, then he should demonstrate\u200c that to\u2062 the American people. But even that&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-harris-call-biden-play-recording-might-made-brutal-slip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not being taken<\/a> at face value.<\/p>\n<p>And now comes news that Biden is supposedly well on the road to recovery &mdash; but it&rsquo;s again part of written statement to X, without so much as a still photo to back it up.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&rsquo;t take a conspiracy theorist to wonder just what is going on.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s understandable that the president is an 81-year-old man whose best days have long since been behind him (in fact, conservatives have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/top-5-biden-gaffes-2022-show-mental-decline-getting-worse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">understood that for years<\/a> while the establishment media and Democratic Party tried to gaslight the country that it wasn&rsquo;t so). It&rsquo;s understandable that, if he&rsquo;s recovering from COVID, he&rsquo;s not looking his best.<\/p>\n<p>But it&rsquo;s not understandable that he has virtually disappeared from the public eye &mdash; including on the day of one of the biggest announcements in American history, not to mention his own life &mdash; for what is now going on a week.<\/p>\n<p>And placating announcements that are supposed to reassure the nation that all is well with the president&rsquo;s health are not nearly enough.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Would be a good thing for him to appear in public today,&rdquo; conservative commentator Byron York wrote in an X post responding to O&rsquo;Connor&rsquo;s announcement.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It&rsquo;s been six days since Biden tested positive for Covid. (Who&rsquo;s standing next to whom at the May Day Parade?)<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s not how the American government is supposed to work, with public statements by public figures, made in public, to a public made up of voters empowered by the Constitution to hold those politicians accountable.<\/p>\n<p>The United States has been through an incapacitated presidency before, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/history\/how-edith-wilson-kept-herselfand-her-husbandin-the-white-house-180981712\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first lady Edith Wilson<\/a> ran what amounted to a regency regime in the White House for the final year of her husband&rsquo;s second term in 1920. (Coincidentally, maybe, Woodrow Wilson was a Democrat, too.)<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s bad enough, but the presidency was relatively tame back then. Those were the years before World War II and the country&rsquo;s ascension to global superpower. It was before nuclear warfare &mdash; and it was before a &ldquo;nuclear football&rdquo; was always within the president&rsquo;s reach.<\/p>\n<p>The American federal government has far more power &mdash; over Americans and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-debate-meltdown-put-us-all-in-danger\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Debate Meltdown Put Us All In Danger\">world &#038;mdash<\/a>; than it did a century ago. And the man who wields much of that power at the moment is supposedly the president &mdash; an obviously addled Joe Biden, physically frail and mentally undependable, and out of the public eye during one of the biggest moments of his long, long, <em>long<\/em> career.<\/p>\n<p>So, where&rsquo;s the president now? The White House physician says he&rsquo;s fine and carrying out his presidential duties &mdash; except for maybe, oh, meeting with the leader of an American ally presently fighting for its existence with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-rashida-tlaib-blasted-for-defending-call-for-genocide-against-israel\/\" title=\"Democrat Rashida Tlaib criticized for supporting call for Israel&#039;s genocide.\">savage terrorist group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/07\/22\/us-news\/netanyahu-meeting-with-biden-scrapped-as-president-recovers-from-covid-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a> reported Monday that Biden&rsquo;s meeting scheduled Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been canceled, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/biden-scheduled-for-white-house-return-tuesday-after-covid-diagnosis-abandoning-re-election-campaign\/ar-BB1qs1RP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">later reported<\/a> that the meeting&rsquo;s status was uncertain.<\/p>\n<p>Americans need more than a note from the president&rsquo;s doctor.
