\t\t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>The  further cited &ldquo;changing business needs&rdquo; as to why the team was laid off.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft is, much to the chagrin of the employees, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/video-game-industry-woes-microsoft-axes-nearly-2000-jobs-69-billion-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no stranger<\/a> to layoffs in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/microsoft-eliminates-dei-team-leader-says-policies-are-no-longer-essential-for-business-5\/\" title=\"Microsoft eliminates DEI team, leader says policies are no longer essential for business\">recent major round<\/a> of layoffs in May was described as a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/microsoft-announces-another-round-devastating-layoffs-employees-notified-via-gut-stab-\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gut stab<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Based on some of the s corroborated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/microsoft-dei-lead-blasts-company-in-internal--after-team-is-reportedly-laid-off\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGN<\/a>, these layoffs seem to have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/microsoft-eliminates-dei-team-leader-says-policies-are-no-longer-essential-for-business-3\/\" title=\"Microsoft eliminates DEI team, leader says policies are no longer essential for business\">engendered similar angst<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the entertainment outlet, the unnamed Microsoft team leader actually blamed conservatism for the elimination of these roles &mdash; which were officially terminated on July 1 &mdash; and that Microsoft may not be the only business looking to lop off DEI divisions.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Unofficially in my opinion, not specific to Microsoft alone, but Project 2025 looms and true systems change work associated with DEI programs everywhere are no longer business critical or smart as they were in 2020,&rdquo; the  said, according to IGN.<\/p>\n<p>The  continued: &ldquo;Hence the purposeful and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/microsoft-eliminates-dei-team-leader-says-policies-are-no-longer-essential-for-business-2\/\" title=\"Microsoft eliminates DEI team, leader says policies are no longer essential for business\">strategic 3-5 year shelf life<\/a> of many company&rsquo;s inclusion commitments post the murder of George Floyd are being reevaluated.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;And the way I see it, the timing was impeccable so businesses everywhere could reevaluate the path forward should their U.S. federal contracts be at risk if the work continues on its face.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, when responding to these reports via statement, Microsoft representative Jeff Jones still eliminated at least one-third of the traditional view of DEI.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our D&amp;I commitments remain unchanged,&rdquo; Jones said, according to Business Insider.<\/p>\n<p>Jones added that Microsoft is still focused on diversity and inclusion (but, again, not equity) while otherwise &ldquo;holding firm.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our focus on diversity and inclusion is unwavering and we are holding firm on our expectations, prioritizing accountability, and continuing to focus on this work,&rdquo;
