The president had also trailed in most polls to Trump nationally and in key battleground states.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Biden is the first incumbent to not seek a second term since then-President Lyndon Baines Johnson did so in 1968. After Johnson decided against running for a second term, his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: &#039;Pipeline&#039; to Obama Admin Seen as &#039;Currency&#039;\">vice president<\/a>, Hubert Humphrey, was the Democratic nominee, but lost to former Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Richard-Nixon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Richard Nixon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The uncertainty with the Democratic Party&rsquo;s ticket comes less than a month before the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
