Her death was ruled a drowning.<\/p>\n<p>The club waged a legal fight to keep the public from seeing internal video of her death, but lost the case, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.8newsnow.com\/news\/local-news\/las-vegas-athletic-club-motion-to-stop-video-evidence-release-denied\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KLAS-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The video showed that as Triplett was struggling, swimmers and staff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/devil-came-son-man-accused-severely-beating-drowning-3-year-old-bathtub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">went about their business<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.8newsnow.com\/news\/local-news\/las-vegas-area-gym-video-surveillance-shows-swimmers-exercising-feet-away-as-woman-struggles-drowns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KLAS-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Triplett began her time at the club with an exercise routine that consisted of swimming and kicking her legs as she held onto the pool wall.<\/p>\n<p>  <script> \t\t\t\tif( ! getCookie( 'ff_subbed' ) ) if( typeof FFADS.replace_ict !='undefined' ) if( FFADS.replace_ict ) eval( FFADS.replace_ict ); \t\t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>At one point, Triplett appeared to stop kicking as she seemed to struggle. After her head went under the water, she began to try to leave the pool by holding onto the wall as she tried to reach the pool stairs.<\/p>\n<p>As she was struggling, people swam past her and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-isis-leader-killed-in-airstrike-by-u-s-and-iraqi-forces\/\" title=\"Top ISIS leader killed in airstrike by U.S. and Iraqi forces\">walked past<\/a> her as they entered the pool.<\/p>\n<p>After Triplett reached the pool stairs, she grabbed the handrails and tried to lift herself up.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, she fell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/officer-follows-instincts-saves-autistic-boy-drowning-bottom-pond\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deeper in the pool<\/a> as her head went underwater.<\/p>\n<p>For 20 minutes, she remained there as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/paris-goes-into-lockdown-as-covid-19-variant-spreads\/\" title=\"Paris goes into lockdown as COVID-19 variant spreads\">people walked<\/a> or swam past her.<\/p>\n<p>Some looked at her, but it was not until she lay in the water for 20 minutes that a person from another pool came over to pull her to the edge of the water, where others then helped retrieve Triplett.<\/p>\n<p>A video report on the footage by KLAS-TV can be seen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xZ-I4ImfTwQ&amp;rco=1\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. <strong>WARNING: The linked video contains graphic images.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to a Southern Nevada Health District investigation report, it was one minute later when an employee of the club came to see what was going on.<\/p>\n<p>Members performed CPR on Triplett, but she died.<\/p>\n<p>Oganna Brown, an attorney representing the club, said the situation was unique.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In 46 years, there has not been a drowning event,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;This is an anomaly, and this was not a direct drowning event. This was a cardiac arrest.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The health district, however, found out a near-drowning took place several days after Triplett died.<\/p>\n<p>Joel Henriod, an attorney representing the district, said Triplett was in an unsafe place because there was no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dramatic-footage-shows-police-officer-not-good-swimmer-save-girl-drowning-deep-water\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lifeguard<\/a> present.<\/p>\n<p>The incident led to a rule change banning the use of a video feed to substitute for a lifeguard, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.8newsnow.com\/news\/local-news\/las-vegas-fitness-club-pool-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KLAS-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Triplett served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.8newsnow.com\/news\/local-news\/veteran-mom-grandma-family-provides-details-of-woman-who-drowned-in-las-vegas-gym-pool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KLAS-TV<\/a>.
