J.D. Vance as his 2024 running mate, commentators and history buffs were quick to notice that the veep choice breaks the longstanding &ldquo;beard barrier&rdquo; on American presidential tickets.<\/p>\n<p>Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/jd-vance-winners-and-losers-from-trumps-vp-pick\/ar-BB1q3VKT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports<\/a> that Vance would be the first vice president with facial hair since President Herbert Hoover&rsquo;s running mate Charles Curtis donned the mustache in 1933. Others <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/willrahn\/status\/1812936241182064883\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a> Vance would be the first candidate on a presidential ticket with a full beard since Benjamin Harrison in 1892, although the 1916 Republican presidential nominee <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charles_Evans_Hughes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Charles Evans Hughes&rsquo;<\/a> facial hair could arguably fall within the &ldquo;full beard&rdquo; range. Either way, that&rsquo;s more than 100 years of clean-shaven statesmen, and women everywhere are rejoicing that the drought of dapperness is over.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2aaa48240e1c14aa6606eb95f51aa47e fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2aaa48240e1c14aa6606eb95f51aa47e\"><\/div>\n<p>While you may <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-selection-of-j-d-vance-is-a-victory-for-bearded-individuals-everywhere-2\/\" title=\"The selection of J.D. Vance is a victory for bearded individuals everywhere\">occasionally hear women demurring<\/a> about the facial hair of their significant others, it&rsquo;s objectively true that a good and <em>well-kept<\/em> &mdash; not patchy, adolescent, or overgrown &mdash; beard can transform and elevate a man&rsquo;s attractiveness, and even his political prospects.<\/p>\n<p>Consider the baby-faced Sen. Ted Cruz in 2016, who was a near-perfect GOP nominee on paper, but not in the mirror (he was often compared to a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nightlyshow\/status\/692567779577315328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blobfish<\/a>&rdquo; by internet goblins). After his primary loss to Trump, and his narrow victory over Beto O&rsquo;Rourke in 2018, Cruz <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/human-interest\/2018\/12\/ted-cruz-beard-is-good.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">came back<\/a> from a Thanksgiving recess with &ldquo;a filled-out salt-and-pepper beard, giving his face a defined jawline and its first-ever hints of ruggedness and affability,&rdquo; and the senator hasn&rsquo;t looked back since. I can&rsquo;t help but wonder how that 2016 primary would have worked out for him had the beard been in place.<\/p>\n<p>Vance&rsquo;s facial hair tells us he understands, much like Trump, that appearances are often more important than policy positions and that without a beard, the 39-year-old would look like a very tall baby, far too inexperienced to lead. Indeed, if elected, Vance would be the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesnownews.com\/world\/us\/us-news\/list-of-americas-youngest-vice-presidents-in-history-article-111767036\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">third-youngest<\/a> vice president to serve. <\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s why when even the clean-shaven Trump (who once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailydot.com\/debug\/donald-trump-beards-trump-jr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> his own son he needed to shave his Covid beard) was pressed recently on whether Vance&rsquo;s beard would be an obstacle in his VP selection, the former president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/brian-kilmeade-presses-trump-on-whether-jd-vances-beard-is-a-vp-dealbreaker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted<\/a>, &ldquo;He looks good. Looks like a young Abraham Lincoln.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7aaccd0fd488cf04cd4d386eaeb635e5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7aaccd0fd488cf04cd4d386eaeb635e5\"><\/div>\n<p>Breaking the &ldquo;beard barrier&rdquo; is not just a step forward for the entire GOP up and down the ticket this fall, but several steps forward for women everywhere who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-selection-of-j-d-vance-is-a-victory-for-bearded-individuals-everywhere-3\/\" title=\"The selection of J.D. Vance is a victory for bearded individuals everywhere\">face routine disappointment<\/a> when they find their husbands have once again decided to shave. Next time he complains about the itchiness or annoyance of the upkeep, point him to the story of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-selection-of-j-d-vance-is-a-victory-for-bearded-individuals-everywhere\/\" title=\"The selection of J.D.
