There is no confirmation that Crooks had an Instagram account.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Crooks worked as a dietary aide at the Bethel Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and did not have a \u201cknown history of mental illness,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/trump-rally-shooting-suspect-fbi-names-pennsylvania-man\/story?id=111921870\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ABC News<\/a>. There is no evidence that this account is linked to Crooks. Newsweek has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/thomas-matthew-crooks-social-media-fake-instagram-1925280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> on several fake Instagram accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, there are issues with the account itself. The account references 16001, which is an area code in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedstateszipcodes.org\/16001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Butler County<\/a>, where Trump was shot. However, Crooks was from Bethel Park, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-details-emerge-on-republican-congressmans-alleged-attacker\/\" title=\"New Details Emerge On Republican Congressman\u2019s Alleged Attacker\">voter registration records show<\/a> a different zip code than 16001.<\/p>\n<p>The account has had seven name changes since it was created in April 2024. It also shows the image of a man known for streaming on a white nationalist social media platform, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/noturtlesoup17\/status\/1812356991357972571\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amanda Moore<\/a>, a researcher of right-wing extremism.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Screenshot\/Instagram<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>A Meta spokesperson confirmed to Check Your Fact in an email that the account was fake.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have teams that monitor our platform for credible threats of violence, false information, or content glorifying the shooter or shooting. Copycat accounts of the shooter are not allowed, and we remove them when we find them. We continue to monitor and block people from creating new copycat accounts,\u201d the spokesperson said.
