Lee Statue Removed From US Capitol (VIDEO)\">civil rights activist<\/a> and listed Rep. \u200cBennie Thompson\u2019s\u200c office as her place \u2064of employment.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Government employees including a Democrat congressional staffer and a purported FBI employee took to social media to express dismay that Saturday\u2019s\u00a0assassination attempt against former President Trump was unsuccessful. <\/p>\n<p>After a gunman <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/13\/trump-wounded-after-gunshots-ring-out-at-pa-rally-defiantly-pumps-fist-after-apparent-assassination-attempt\/\">opened fire<\/a> at a Pennsylvania political rally on Saturday,\u00a0social media posts expressed sentiments like \u201cdon\u2019t miss next time\u201d and \u201cso close.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>FBI Staffer: \u2018So Close\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Jenna Howell, who is a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) employee, according to a former FBI analyst who spoke with The Federalist, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kyleseraphin\/status\/1812494628563673195?s=46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">took to Facebook<\/a> to express apparent regret that the gunman failed to assassinate Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe memes\u2026the memes are gold,\u201d Howell wrote in a Facebook comment. She shared an image depicting the grim reaper attempting to pick Trump out of a claw machine captioned \u201cAWWW SO CLOSE.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Howell appeared to criticize social media users expressing grief and outrage over the political violence, writing, \u201cY\u2019all gun-toting, 2nd Amendment-loving hillbillies better just sit down and stay quiet unless you\u2019re gonna change your mind on gun control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement has provided no official information on how Crooks obtained the firearm.<\/p>\n<p>Former FBI analyst Chris Toompas told The Federalist that Howell is a former NICS Firearms Background Check Unit employee, the unit that decides whether Americans are permitted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-court-rules-california-counties-lockdown-of-gun-stores-were-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"Federal Court Rules California Counties\u2019 Lockdown Of Gun Stores Were Unconstitutional\">obtain firearms<\/a>. She is <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KyleSeraphin\/status\/1812520357502349689\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">now assigned<\/a> to the FBI\u2019s Identity Research Department, according to Toompas.<\/p>\n<p>Toompas, who said he worked with Howell before the Covid-19 pandemic, spoke with The Federalist about her history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only thing leftists love to do is hate those who disagree with them, and in this instance, wish for their death,\u201d Toompas said, adding that he was terminated from the FBI for refusing to comply with the Covid-19 vaccine mandate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went to Facebook during my suspension to voice my disdain for the mandate and share my suspension story,\u201d Toompas explained. \u201cWhen I did so, [Howell] threatened to report me to the FBI for violating the FBI\u2019s Facebook policy. The irony.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Howell\u2019s posts have since been removed from her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jenna.howell.5\/?paipv=0&#038;eav=AfaXZ8LOSrmPYfEf3MV9RfGIydSmZbUdFkVQ5_PM9LTvxs2SuuPWuLtpIDlL8y8CsxE&#038;_rdr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Congressional Staffer: \u2018Get Shooting Lessons\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Jacqueline Marsaw, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/benniethompson.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/congressman-thompson-announces-open-house-and-welcomes-new-staff-member\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hired<\/a> as a <a href=\"https:\/\/benniethompson.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/benniethompson.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/natchez-open-house.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">field representative<\/a> by Democrat Rep. Bennie Thompson in 2023, shared her disappointment that Trump was not killed in a series of Facebook posts Saturday night. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t condone violence but please get you some shooting lessons so you don\u2019t miss next time,\u201d Marsaw wrote. The post was apparently directed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/news\/press-releases\/fbi-statement-on-incident-in-butler-pennsylvania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alleged gunman<\/a> Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was shot and killed by law enforcement after opening fire.<\/p>\n<p>Crooks, 20, wounded Trump and killed a local father, whose daughter said he died shielding her from the gunfire. Crooks seriously injured two others. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s what your hate speech got you!!\u201d Marsaw posted. She later criticized Trump supporters who spoke out against her posts, claiming they \u201ccan\u2019t see the wrong that he does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marsaw identified herself as a \u201cCIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST\u201d and listed Thompson\u2019s office as her place of employment. She deleted the posts, captured by the <a href=\"https:\/\/magnoliatribune.com\/2024\/07\/14\/trump-defiant-thompson-aide-laments-shooters-aim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Magnolia Tribune<\/a>, later that evening. Her account appeared deleted as of Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Marsaw was fired following the posts. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was made aware of a post made by a staff member and she is no longer in my employment,\u201d Thompson said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/billmelugin_\/status\/1812537328495177876?s=46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a> on Sunday. <\/p>\n<p>Thompson also <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/benniegthompson\/status\/1812275735039730041?s=46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeted<\/a> a response to the assassination attempt on Saturday evening and expressed he was \u201cglad the former President is safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The congressman, however, had previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/13\/democrats-started-trying-to-strip-trumps-secret-service-protection-just-months-before-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">introduced<\/a> a bill to terminate Trump\u2019s Secret Service protection. Thompson introduced the \u201cDISGRACED Former Protectees Act\u201d<em> <\/em>in April to ensure\u00a0the former president would receive no \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/democrats-homeland.house.gov\/news\/legislation\/ranking-member-thompson-introduces-legislation-to-ensure-no-secret-service-protection-for-convicted-felons-sentenced-to-prison\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">special treatment<\/a>\u201d following potential felony convictions resulting from Democrats\u2019 lawfare.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson did not respond to The Federalist\u2019s request for comment regarding how he views his DISGRACE Act in light of Saturday\u2019s assassination attempt against former President Trump.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Monroe Harless is a summer intern at The Federalist.
