The\u2063 Washington \u2063Examiner\u2063 reported that New York’s\u200c highest \u200ccourt has approved a proposal for the November ballot that would protect abortion rights<\/a> and “gender\u2062 identity.” The\u200c proposed Equal Rights\u200d Amendment\u2064 aims to codify abortion rights<\/a> in\u2063 the \u200bstate Constitution\u200b and\u2064 expand protections against discrimination based on race, religion, and gender. This \u200ddecision follows a ruling by the Court of Appeals dismissing an appeal\u2063 by Republican lawmakers who opposed the amendment.\u200b Supporters of the amendment see\u200c it as a victory for all New Yorkers and a way to ensure\u2063 fundamental rights \u2064and reproductive\u200c freedoms are safeguarded.
