The state\u2063 of Illinois is investing millions of tax dollars in developing a clean energy<\/a> jobs program in underserved neighborhoods.\u2062 The Clean and Equitable Jobs Act, \u2064signed \u2063by Governor\u200c J.B. Pritzker three years ago, funds programs that create clean energy jobs \u2064statewide. \u2064The Climate\u2063 Works \u2062Pre-Apprenticeship Program aims to prioritize underrepresented populations and residents of \u200dcommunities historically facing economic and environmental \u2064challenges. Nonprofits\u2063 HIRE360 and the\u2062 548 Foundation will receive nearly $14 million in \u2063taxpayer funding to expand their \u2064clean energy careers training program, with the goal of reaching 1,000\u200d graduates in the next 36\u200b months and placing them into trade programs. \u2063Executive director Jay Rowell expects the funding to help expand\u200c the workforce \u200cdevelopment program<\/a> to cover all 102 counties in Illinois. <\/p>\n
