Governor Gavin Newsom of\u2064 California has deployed additional California \u200cHighway Patrol officers\u2064 to Oakland in \u200dresponse to the crime crisis in the \u2062East Bay. This\u200b surge follows\u2064 the installation of 480\u200c surveillance cameras in \u200dthe area to assist law enforcement<\/a>. Newsom stated that past initiatives have \u2062been effective in combating\u200b crime in Oakland, but the current lawlessness is unacceptable. The new plan includes quadrupling the number of shifts designated \u200dfor Oakland\u200c over the next four \u200dmonths, targeting organized crime, \u2062sideshows, and \u200dcarjackings.
