In a way that goes beyond language, people often just <em>feel<\/em> male or female.\u201d He adds, \u201cAs is the case with many emotions, it\u2019s hard to describe this transcendent feeling in words. But it is the foundation of our gender identity, the scaffolding we\u2019re born with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This talk of indescribable, transcendent feelings is just a roundabout way of saying we have gendered souls, that there is a masculinity or femininity to us that is more real than our bodies, and which our bodies must be reordered to match, so far as it is possible, on demand.<\/p>\n<p>This belief in an insubstantial gender identity is mystical, not medical, which is emphasized by Turban\u2019s efforts to argue that research \u201csuggests these transcendent gender feelings have a strong innate biological basis.\u201d But the closest the research he cites comes to demonstrating such a \u201cbiological basis\u201d for a \u201ctranscendent feeling\u201d is speculation about possible genetic sources for transgender identities. Furthermore, even if some people have a genetic predisposition toward being uncomfortable with their sex, a propensity to dislike one\u2019s body is not proof of a \u201ctranscendent\u201d gender identity.<\/p>\n<p>Turban undermines his theory of transcendent (but somehow also biologically based) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/surgeon-reported-to-ftc-for-promoting-breast-removal-surgery-to-minors\/\" title=\"Surgeon Reported to FTC for Promoting Breast Removal Surgery to Minors\">innate gender identities<\/a> even more when he turns his attention to social life. He writes, \u201cAs we move through life, we build on the biology of gender identity with language and social experience, influenced by everything from the TV shows we watch to how we interact with classmates and our families.\u201d Apparently it is no longer a conservative conspiracy to say that \u201cgender identity\u201d can be socially influenced. This admission then raises the question of how innate such identities are.<\/p>\n<p>After all, as Turban admits, \u201cthese feelings can evolve over time \u2014 the way an 18-year-old college student thinks about her womanhood is likely different from how she thinks about it when she becomes a 40-year-old mother of three.\u201d Indeed. Most adults are aware that the desires and self-identifications of the young may be fleeting, and we therefore do not acquiesce to every fad they embrace, especially if it has major and irreversible consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Turban even admits that gender ideology appeals to some young women because it offers an escape from our culture\u2019s toxic treatment of them. \u201cI\u2019ve had patients, for example, who hate the expectations placed on women in American society. They began using they\/them pronouns as a way to express rejection of those expectations. However, they loved their birth names and bodies and had no interest in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/politico-ignores-enormous-risks-of-child-transition-to-push-kids-to-castration-instead-of-actual-care\/\" title=\"Politico Ignores Enormous Risks Of Child \u201cTransition\u201d to Push Kids to Castration Instead of Actual Care\">gender-affirming medical interventions<\/a>.\u201d It does not seem to occur to Turban to ask whether some of the girls and young women who do get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/very-complicated-dr-rachel-levine-dodges-sen-pauls-issue-about-sex-adjustments-for-children\/\" title=\"\u2018Very Complicated\u2019: Dr. Rachel Levine Dodges Sen. Paul\u2019s Issue About Sex Adjustments For Children\">cross-sex hormones<\/a> or surgery are also adopting their trans identities for similar reasons.<\/p>\n<p>The presumption that each person has a \u201ctranscendent\u201d gender identity allows Turban to presume that his minor patients are, despite all the social factors he also notes, fundamentally right in their self-identification. Indeed, when he finally addresses the reality of human embodiment, he still writes about it in terms of feelings, asserting, \u201cThe third part of gender identity is the physical domain \u2014 how we feel about our bodies.\u201d In this view, bodies are incidental to who we are and should be rearrangeable on demand \u2014 \u201cMeat Legos,\u201d as Mary Harrington evocatively <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicworldreport.com\/2023\/05\/07\/reactionary-feminist-pens-broadside-against-meat-lego-gnosticism\/\">put it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, Turban\u2019s model of gender identity is incoherent. He tries to pass this off as complexity, but the contradictions are really a sign of desperation. Turban and his ilk began large-scale, low-gatekeeping transition of children based not on a sober review of the evidence, but on ideological, even mystical, fervor. They assumed they were right and therefore that the data would eventually come in to back them up. But the supporting evidence has not arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the opposite has happened, as a series of revelations has demolished the case for transitioning children. Most significantly, the Cass Report in the United Kingdom has <a href=\"https:\/\/cass.independent-review.uk\/home\/publications\/final-report\/\">stripped<\/a> away the pretense that there is any good evidence to support transitioning children \u2014 despite the efforts of Turban and his allies to manufacture some.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) has been revealed as an activist fraud, rather than a serious medical organization. The <a href=\"https:\/\/environmentalprogress.org\/big-news\/wpath-files\">WPATH Files<\/a> showed doctors admitting that they were making it up as they went along and that their procedures were potentially deadly.<\/p>\n<p>There is also the report that Biden administration officials, led by Rachel Levine (a man pretending to be a woman), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/25\/health\/transgender-minors-surgeries.html\">successfully pressured<\/a> WPATH to eliminate any recommended age restrictions for medical transition procedures. The reasons for this were explicitly political, rather than medical. <\/p>\n<p>It has also been revealed that WPATH tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/united-states\/2024\/06\/27\/research-into-trans-medicine-has-been-manipulated\">censor and suppress<\/a> a report it commissioned from outside experts who, like the Cass Report, <a href=\"https:\/\/unherd.com\/breaking_news\/wpath-blocked-publication-of-its-own-gender-research\/\">found<\/a> that there is no good evidence supporting giving children who are unhappy with their bodies puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/south-dakota-gov-kristi-noem-terminates-health-dept-contact-with-transgender-activist-group\/\" title=\"South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem Terminates Health Dept. Contact With Transgender Activist Group\">remove healthy body parts<\/a>. And there is the <a href=\"https:\/\/reduxx.info\/exclusive-california-gender-academic-inspired-pedophilic-fantasy-on-castrating-enslaving-young-boys\/\">revelation<\/a> that parts of WPATH\u2019s standards of care were written by someone who literally wrote child sex-abuse fantasies.<\/p>\n<p>The facade is falling apart. And Turban bet everything on gender ideology and transitioning children \u2014 his career, his reputation, his self-respect. He and other \u201cgender\u201d doctors were convinced that they were medical heroes saving children from the anguish of living in the \u201cwrong\u201d bodies.
