The \u200dUS\u200d military has announced that\u2062 it will soon cease \u200chumanitarian operations \u2062via \u2062the pier it built in \u2064the Mediterranean Sea \u2063off\u2062 Gaza’s coast\u200b to provide aid to the strip. Despite being one of the most utilized ways to \u200cget aid\u2063 into Gaza, the pier has faced multiple disruptions due to \u200cinclement weather.\u2063 National security adviser Jake Sullivan\u2063 stated that operations at the pier will \u200bwind down in a relatively \u200bshort\u2063 order. The pier \u200cis currently offline, and US Central Command personnel have failed\u2064 to\u2063 re-anchor it\u200d due to \u2064technical and weather-related issues<\/a>. \u200cThe\u200d military has \u2062decided to return the pier\u2063 and support vessels \u200bto Ashdod, Israel, until further notice. The pier was always intended to be \u200btemporary, and\u2063 US officials \u200dhave \u200dstated that the weather\u200b conditions around the Mediterranean Sea will no longer\u2064 be ideal for this \u200bmission by the end of the summer. Despite \u2062the challenges, the international community \u200chas been able to transport millions of pounds of aid through the pier when \u200bit has been\u200d operational. <\/p>\n
