return false;\" title=\"Printer Friendly, PDF &#038; Email\"><span id=\"printfriendly-text2\" class=\"pf-button-text\"><i class=\"mdi mdi-printer\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>A deceptive measure that would prohibit Arkansas from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-court-rules-north-carolina-20-week-abortion-ban-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"Federal Court Rules North Carolina 20 Week Abortion Ban Unconstitutional\">regulating abortion<\/a> until after 18 weeks gestation was disqualified from eligibility for November\u2019s ballot this week after the state\u2019s secretary of state found that the abortion activists leading the charge ignored signature-gathering laws to pad the numbers for their petition.<\/p>\n<p>The Arkansas <a href=\"https:\/\/law.justia.com\/constitution\/arkansas\/amendments\/amendment-68\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Constitution\u2019s 68th amendment<\/a> pledges \u201cto protect the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fire-fauci-new-study-finds-closing-schools-in-response-to-covid-19-delayed-herd-immunity-and-will-increase-overall-deaths\/\" title=\"FIRE FAUCI: New Study Finds Closing Schools In Response to COVID-19 Delayed Herd Immunity and Will Increase Overall Deaths\">life<\/a> of every unborn child from conception until birth, to the extent permitted by the Federal Constitution.\u201d <\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0506fa65027451e3e0084e0745645983 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0506fa65027451e3e0084e0745645983\"><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Arkansas_Right_to_Abortion_Initiative_(2024)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortion proposal<\/a> is billed by its drafters as Arkansans for Limited Government (ALG) as protecting <a href=\"https:\/\/arliberty.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortion exceptions<\/a> such as rape, incest, and the life of the mother. The <a href=\"https:\/\/arliberty.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Arkansas-Abortion-Amendment-of-202.pdf\">tex<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/arliberty.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Arkansas-Abortion-Amendment-of-202.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">t<\/a> of the amendment, however, would permit abortion, regardless of state statute, through all nine months of gestation for broad and vaguely defined scenarios involving fatal fetal anomalies and the health of the woman.<\/p>\n<p>ALG claimed it garnered more than 100,000 signatures on a petition that blatantly seeks to override <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/16\/poll-majority-of-americans-still-reject-democrats-unlimited-abortion-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the will of a majority of Americans<\/a> by the early July deadline. In a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/lbengilmore\/status\/1811119926066958457\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to one of the abortion amendment drafters, however, Arkansas Secretary of State John Thurston said activists not only failed to submit the names of paid signature canvassers but also did not verify they adequately briefed those same canvassers on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-rules-ca-gov-overstepped-his-authority-with-covid-order-issues-permanent-injunction-restraining-newsom-from-further-issuing-unconstitutional-orders\/\" title=\"Judge Rules CA Gov Overstepped His Authority with Covid Order, Issues Permanent Injunction Restraining Newsom From Further Issuing Unconstitutional Orders\">state laws<\/a> regarding petitions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if your failure to comply with [the law] did not require me to reject your submission outright, it would certainly mean that signatures gathered by paid canvassers in your submission could not be counted for any reason,\u201d Thurston wrote. <\/p>\n<p>He noted that 14,143 of the 101,525 submitted signatures were collected by compensated canvassers, leaving the abortion activists 3,322 signatures short of the state-mandated goal. <\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-17a824b955592b03e5a2cbfcbfa49ba4 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-17a824b955592b03e5a2cbfcbfa49ba4\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, even if I could accept your submission, I would be forced to find that your petition is insufficient on its face for failure to obtain the required 90,704 signatures,\u201d Thurston concluded. <\/p>\n<p>Despite their blatant neglect of state petition requirements, which Thurston noted were deemed constitutional by the Arkansas Supreme Court nearly one decade ago, ALG <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/arlibertynow\/status\/1811242059065446639\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accused<\/a> the Republican of deliberately misleading the organization about state law in order to execute a \u201cridiculous disqualification attempt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thurston\u2019s rebuke is not the first time ALG\u2019s extreme abortion activism has failed to satisfy the state. In November, Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/11\/29\/arkansas-attorney-general-tim-griffin-rejects-abortion-activists-deceptive-ballot-measure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">scolded<\/a> the organization for expecting certification of their \u201cmisleading\u201d and vague proposal.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also not the first time the states <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/03\/every-state-facing-deceptive-unlimited-abortion-ballot-measures-this-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">facing ballot measure battles across the nation<\/a>, like <a href=\"https:\/\/dailymontanan.com\/2024\/07\/09\/montana-abortion-petition-group-alleges-secretary-of-state-wrongfully-tossing-signatures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Montana, <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/southdakotasearchlight.com\/2024\/06\/19\/explaining-the-lawsuit-against-south-dakotas-abortion-rights-ballot-measure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Dakota<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/08\/ny-judge-thwarts-dems-2024-scheming-with-smackdown-of-deceptive-abortion-amendment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York<\/a>, have had to fight to hold abortion activists\u2019 scheming accountable.<\/p>\n<div  class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9c1d9b39225bc1e1657fa6c71d373584 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9c1d9b39225bc1e1657fa6c71d373584\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s development is a win.
