The trial continues as the case unfolds.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><br \/>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\"> <?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><html><body><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/lorri-wickenhauser\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/lorri-wickenhauser\/%20\"><span>Lorri Wickenhauser<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   July 11, 2024 at 7:06am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Jurors on Wednesday viewed police bodycam footage during Alec Baldwin\u2019s manslaughter trial in the October 2021 shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie \u201cRust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin, 66, \u201cwas left looking in agony\u201d as the footage was shown in court during the first day of the trial in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the U.K.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-13621155\/alec-baldwin-sick-court-trial-shooting-rust.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Mail<\/a> reported.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the video, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/santa-fe-sheriff-releases-500-page-investigation-rust-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Santa Fe<\/a> County Sheriff\u2019s Deputy Nicholas LeFleur was heard advising dispatchers of \u201cone female shot in the chest, male shot in the stomach\u201d and calling for an air evacuation, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>The video \u201ccaptured the frantic efforts to save <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alec-baldwin-blames-halyna-hutchins-death-ghoulish-new-document\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hutchins<\/a>, who looked unconscious as several people attended to her and gave her an oxygen mask,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/alec-baldwin-trial-openings-shooting-rust-hutchins-9f969f6e020028749f5c3f93c549b0d7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a> reported.\u00a0\u201cIn the courtroom, Baldwin looked at the screen somberly as it played.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Special prosecutor Erlinda Johnson told the jury the actor was playing \u201cmake-believe with a real gun,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/entertainment\/live-news\/alec-baldwin-rust-shooting-trial-07-10-24\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBaldwin has claimed the gun fired accidentally after he followed instructions to point it toward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alec-baldwin-announces-settlement-family-slain-cinematographer-halyna-hutchins-rust-resume-filming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hutchins<\/a>, who was behind the camera,\u201d the AP reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnaware that it was loaded with a live round, he said he pulled back the hammer \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-forensic-analysis-rust-shooting-puts-alec-baldwin-danger-facing-charges-trigger-pulled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not the trigger<\/a> \u2014 and it fired.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Johnson discounted that version of the facts, according to CNN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe evidence will show, ladies and gentlemen, that\u2019s not possible,\u201d she told the jury.<\/p>\n<p>The weapon was in \u201cperfect working order,\u201d the prosecutor said.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson said Baldwin \u201cdeclined multiple opportunities for standard safety checks with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/video-emerges-showing-alec-baldwin-firing-rust-prop-gun-teaching-safe-handling-days-fatal-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">armorer<\/a> Hannah Gutierrez-Reed before the rehearsal,\u201d the AP reported.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to describe the moment where Baldwin \u201ccocks the hammer, points it straight at Miss Hutchins, and fires that gun, sending that live bullet right into Miss Hutchins body.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Director Joel Souza was wounded in the shoulder in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin\u2019s attorney, Alex Spiro, told jurors during opening statements that his client\u2019s actions were not criminal.<\/p>\n<p>He was simply \u201can actor, acting,\u201d Spiro said.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney said the accident was the result of a failure by those who were responsible for ensuring safety on the set.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rust-armorer-given-maximum-sentence-calling-jurors-idiots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guiterrez-Reed<\/a> was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the case in February.
