The group portrays itself as a disinterested \u201ctask force\u201d of election experts working to preserve what it defines as \u201cdemocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cOur mission transcends party and ideology,\u201d the group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/mission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a> reads. \u201cThe task force\u2019s mission is to use its expertise to help civil society and decision-makers prevent, prepare for, and mitigate a range of election crises. The only electoral outcomes the task force advocates for are free, fair, and safe elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But it sounds like this \u201ctask force\u201d may be more concerned with censorship and political vengeance than the proper administration of elections.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The group aims to <a href=\"https:\/\/protectdemocracy.org\/work\/national-task-force-on-election-crises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">control<\/a> election discourse on social media, with recommendations to \u201cdowngrade or delete\u201d what it deems to be election \u201cdisinformation\u201d from media platforms, \u201chand-pick or remove trending lists,\u201d and prevent supposed \u201cdisinformation about voting options and the validity of election results.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The task force also <a href=\"https:\/\/protectdemocracy.org\/work\/national-task-force-on-election-crises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seeks<\/a> to \u201chold candidates and their attorneys accountable\u201d for what it alleges are \u201cbad-faith or frivolous legal challenges\u201d concerning election administration, and \u201ccontinue to pursue accountability for those who committed criminal acts on and leading up to January 6.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group called to remove Trump from office following his speech in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6, <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskfo.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/CallsforLawfulRemoval.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">naming<\/a> him an \u201cimminent danger to our country.\u201d The group claimed Trump tried to \u201coverturn the results of a free and fair election\u201d and called for his \u201cremov[al] from office\u201d via \u201cimpeachment and\/or potential invocation of the 25th Amendment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the task force\u2019s more than 50 members, which range from government officials to nonprofit and corporate leaders, are some of the most infamous names in the election rigging business.<\/p>\n<h2>Government Officials<\/h2>\n<p>James Baker, the former FBI counsel who pushed censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story while working at Twitter, is a <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/james-baker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member<\/a> of the group. Before that, while at the FBI, he <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/02\/ex-fbi-counsel-behind-russiagate-biden-laptop-censorship-now-part-of-left-wing-election-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">worked<\/a> with a lawyer for Hillary Clinton\u2019s 2016 campaign to investigate Trump for since-disproven \u201cRussian collusion,\u201d a lie Baker peddled to Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff is also <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/michael-chertoff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">part<\/a> of the task force. He is a <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/michael-chertoff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">co-author<\/a> of the Patriot Act, which <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/12\/17\/rand-paul-president-trump-should-pardon-edward-snowden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enabled<\/a> the government to spy on Americans without a warrant. The 2001 bill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/sites\/default\/files\/FilesPDFs\/patriot%20act%20flyer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">curtailed<\/a> the Constitution\u2019s First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and 14th Amendments in the name of safety. The CIA may still have been <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/02\/17\/the-cia-got-caught-spying-on-americans-again-its-time-for-congress-to-make-them-stop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">collecting<\/a> data on citizens as late as 2022.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Matthew Masterson, former senior cybersecurity adviser to the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, is another <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/matthew-masterson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member<\/a> of the group. CISA has been described as the \u201cnerve center\u201d of government <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/03\/court-forbids-censorship-nerve-center-cisa-from-silencing-americans-online-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">censorship<\/a> of Americans, and it has recently been <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/05\/why-cisas-censorship-and-election-interference-work-is-the-most-insidious-attack-on-american-democracy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">focusing<\/a> on defining and silencing election \u201cdisinformation.\u201d Masterson is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/matthew-masterson-0a61418a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">director<\/a> of \u201cinformation integrity\u201d at Microsoft, which recently drew fire for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/newsletters\/2024-03-07\/how-microsoft-s-bing-search-engine-censors-content-in-china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">censoring<\/a> content in China at the command of the Chinese Communist Party-led government.<\/p>\n<p>Former Congressman Tom Coleman, R-Mo., also a task force <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/tom-coleman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member<\/a>, wrote an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/opinion\/readers-opinion\/guest-commentary\/article230713224.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opinion<\/a> in 2019 calling the Trump presidency \u201cillegitimate\u201d and calling for impeachment. \u201cIn addition to receiving campaign help from Russian operatives, the president obstructed justice,\u201d Coleman wrote. He based his argument on the long-since <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/02\/ex-fbi-counsel-behind-russiagate-biden-laptop-censorship-now-part-of-left-wing-election-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">debunked<\/a> Trump-Russia collusion hoax that Hillary Clinton\u2019s 2016 campaign planted. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Amber McReynolds is the <a href=\"https:\/\/about.usps.com\/who\/leadership\/board-governors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vice chair<\/a> of the board of governors for the United States Postal Service. In 2020, McReynolds was <a href=\"https:\/\/about.usps.com\/who\/leadership\/board-governors\/amber-mcreynolds.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CEO<\/a> of the National Vote at Home Institute (NVAHI), which works to advance mail-in voting across the country. The group accessed absentee ballots and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/25\/exclusive-zuckerberg-connected-nonprofit-helped-shift-michigans-2020-voting-rules\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">worked<\/a> to shift Michigan\u2019s election policy. McReynolds is also a current <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/amber-mcreynolds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member<\/a> of the task force.<\/p>\n<h2>Left-Wing Nonprofit Leaders<\/h2>\n<p>H\u00e9ctor S\u00e1nchez Barba, <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/hector-sanchez-barba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chair<\/a> of Planned Parenthood Global, is another member of the group. Planned Parenthood Global <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/about-us\/planned-parenthood-global\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">advances<\/a> abortion and what it calls \u201csexual and reproductive health and rights\u201d across 10 countries. He is also CEO of Mi Familia Vota, which aims to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/mi-familia-vota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mobilize<\/a> immigrants and Latino communities to vote for the left.<\/p>\n<p>Task force member Janai Nelson is <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/janai-nelson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">president<\/a> of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. While the group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naacpldf.org\/about-us\/staff\/janai-nelson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">won<\/a> the landmark <em>Brown v. Board of Education<\/em> decision, it has since strayed from its mission. According to InfluenceWatch, the group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/naacp-legal-defense-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">argued<\/a> for a university\u2019s \u201crace-conscious admissions program\u201d at the Supreme Court in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/tiana-epps-johnson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tiana Epps-Johnson<\/a>, founder and executive director of the Center for Tech and Civic Life, and <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/david-becker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Becker<\/a>, a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/center-for-election-innovation-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hardcore leftist<\/a>\u201d and founder of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, are both members. Mark Zuckerberg <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shuttled<\/a> close to $420 million through CTCL and CEIR to local election offices in 2020, boosting Democratic turnout in the general election. The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/02\/how-red-states-can-hold-zuckbucks-group-legally-accountable-for-2020-election-meddling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">partisan<\/a> election funding took on the nickname \u201cZuckbucks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Member Tammy Patrick is <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/tammy-patrick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CEO<\/a> of programs at the National Association of Election Officials. She is also <a href=\"https:\/\/voteathome.org\/about-us\/\">in<\/a> the circle of advisers at NVAHI and was a senior adviser for elections at the left-wing financial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/democracy-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">powerhouse<\/a> Democracy Fund.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/jennifer-morrell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jennifer Morrell<\/a> is co-founder and CEO of The Elections Group, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/for-profit\/the-elections-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> to offer assistance for election officials during 2020 due to Covid-19, according to InfluenceWatch. The group partners with CTCL and NVAHI to offer \u201csolutions\u201d to officials relating to Democrat-backed practices like mail voting and ballot drop boxes. Morrell is also a consultant for Democracy Fund. <\/p>\n<p>Megan Lewis is <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/megan-lewis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">co-founder<\/a> and director of Voting Rights Lab, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/organization\/voting-rights-lab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aims<\/a> to \u201ctransform our voting systems,\u201d according to InfluenceWatch. The group supports felon voting and advances vote-by-mail policies. Voting Rights Lab is a \u201cformer project\u201d of New Venture Fund, which falls under the umbrella of left-wing dark money <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/10\/arabella-sheds-light-on-the-dark-money-groups-remaking-america-millions-of-dollars-at-a-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">network<\/a> Arabella Advisors.<\/p>\n<h2>Corporations<\/h2>\n<p>Yasmin Green is <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/yasmin-green\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CEO<\/a> of Jigsaw, a unit within Google that develops technology to <a href=\"https:\/\/jigsaw.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">address<\/a> perceived \u201cthreats to open societies.\u201d The group has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/google-jigsaw-yasmin-green-internet-trolls-web-security\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">described<\/a> as the \u201cNational Security Council of Google,\u201d and it aims to strengthen \u201ccollective defenses\u201d against what it considers \u201cdisinformation.\u201d Green is also a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspeninstitute.org\/programs\/commission-on-information-disorder\/meet-the-commissioners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member<\/a> of the Aspen Institute\u2019s Commission on Information Disorder, which was created to research \u201c\u2018mis- and disinformation\u2019 on topics including the 2020 presidential election and \u2018vaccine safety,\u2019\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/organization\/commission-on-information-disorder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">InfluenceWatch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Task force member <a href=\"https:\/\/electiontaskforce.org\/people\/sam-hirsch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sam Hirsch<\/a> works for Jenner and Block, a law firm that often takes Democratic causes, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/sam-hirsch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">InfluenceWatch<\/a>.
