Though the audio was hard to make out, he indirectly confirmed his remarks in a statement to <em>Puck News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier today I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn\u2019t have,\u201d he told the outlet in a statement through a spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>An ABC News spokesperson distanced the company from the remarks, saying, \u201cGeorge expressed his own point of view and not the position of ABC News.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Footage showing Stephanopoulos in workout clothes on the streets of New York was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2024\/07\/09\/george-stephanopoulos-president-joe-biden-cant-serve-4-more-years-sidewalk-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>published by <em>TMZ<\/em><\/a>  on Tuesday, in which a passerby asked the host, \u201cDo you think Biden should step down? You\u2019ve talked to him more than anybody else has lately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think he can serve four more years,\u201d he appeared to respond.<\/p>\n<p>The ABC News host\u2019s interview with Biden was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3072630\/stephanopoulos-interview-biden-scores-8-5-million-viewers-friday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"viewed\">viewed<\/a> by 8.5 million people.
