Despite calls from prominent Democrats for Biden to gracefully leave, the president remains defiant. The media campaign\u200b to find a replacement has gained traction, with \u200cseveral major\u2064 newspapers\u200c encouraging Biden to step aside. This renewed focus on\u200b Biden&#8217;s health \u2064and age by the press has sparked rebellion\u200d within the Democratic Party. The response to \u2063Biden&#8217;s cognitive deterioration highlights the extent to which the\u2062 party aligns itself with media narratives. the \u2064media&#8217;s\u2062 scrutiny of Biden&#8217;s health has led to questions about his ability to serve as president and has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/it-was-my-son-texas-mom-wont-be-charged-after-aborting-baby-against-fathers-wishes\/\" title=\"\u2018It Was My Son\u2019: Texas Mom Won\u2019t Be Charged After Aborting Baby Against Father\u2019s Wishes\">brought renewed attention<\/a> to his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/survey-nba-vets-snub-lebron-for-best-player-choose-kevin-durant\/\" title=\"SURVEY: NBA Vets Snub LeBron for &#039;Best Player,&#039; Choose Kevin Durant\">age-related decline<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The press is engaged in an all-out blitz to oust President Joe Biden following the frail 81-year-old commander-in-chief\u2019s disastrous debate performance last month. <\/p>\n<p>The New York Times has published not one, but two editorials calling on the Democrat incumbent to step down from the party\u2019s top ticket just weeks before the August convention. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/07\/08\/opinion\/editorials\/democrats-biden-truth.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">second column<\/a>, published Monday, followed their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/28\/opinion\/biden-election-debate-trump.html\">first post<\/a>, which was put up the day after the prime-time event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Thursday\u2019s debate, the president needed to convince the American public that he was equal to the formidable demands of the office he is seeking to hold for another term,\u201d the Times editorial board <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/28\/opinion\/biden-election-debate-trump.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cVoters, however, cannot be expected to ignore what was instead plain to see: Mr. Biden is not the man he was four years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden, however, has remained stubbornly defiant even as ranking House Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/article\/2024\/jul\/08\/adam-smith-calls-biden-quit\">j<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/article\/2024\/jul\/08\/adam-smith-calls-biden-quit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">o<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/article\/2024\/jul\/08\/adam-smith-calls-biden-quit\">in<\/a> the open chorus calling on him to gracefully step down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not going anywhere,\u201d the president <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/07\/joe-biden-morning-joe-2024-election-1236003129\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> on MSNBC\u2019s Monday edition of \u201cMorning Joe.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Biden has good reason to believe voters will, in The New York Times\u2019 words, \u201cignore what was instead plain to see,\u201d namely, his nakedly obvious decline on national display. That\u2019s because four years ago, voters did ignore Biden\u2019s cognitive deterioration. Biden previously <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SteveGuest\/status\/1235043689367392257?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">confused<\/a> his wife and sister on stage, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bubbaprog\/status\/1234573252221120513?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mumbled<\/a> through the words of the Declaration of Independence, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SteveGuest\/status\/1234570453081034757?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">swapped<\/a> \u201cSuper Tuesday\u201d with \u201cSuper Thursday,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/heckyessica\/status\/1232171077629075456?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mixed up<\/a> which office he was campaigning for, and <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SteveGuest\/status\/1190724941165010945?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wondered<\/a> which state he was in, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BoKnowsNews\/status\/1165350412293169155?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more<\/a> than once. This was all before Biden was nominated in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>And this was Biden on the campaign trail:<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>The Times editorial team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/30\/biden-step-aside-editorial-board-pundits-withdrawal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joined<\/a> the opinion boards of The New Yorker, The Boston Globe, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution to encourage Biden step aside, while The Washington Post recommended the president spend time \u201csoul-searching.\u201d Only Biden will be able to decide his own fate this election. But the media campaign to find a replacement has given prominent Democrats ammunition to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-ca\/news\/politics\/nobody-wants-to-be-the-first-one-to-knife-julius-caesar-how-manchin-decided-not-to-ditch-biden\/ar-BB1pislX?ocid=BingNewsVerp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">knife Julius Ceasar<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There was no effort among Democrats to keep Biden off the ticket four years ago despite the former vice president\u2019s obvious age-related decline. Instead, Democrats have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/09\/8-democrats-who-dismissed-joe-bidens-cognitive-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">scoffed<\/a> at concerns about Biden\u2019s age and aptitude to command the Oval Office even after former Special Counsel Robert Hur concluded the president was too senile to face felony charges over the mishandling of classified documents. But now that the media is hammering the White House with questions about Biden\u2019s age at every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3072740\/press-turns-white-house-fiery-press-briefing-biden-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press conference<\/a> following the president\u2019s catastrophic debate, Democrats and their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/07\/04\/us\/politics\/biden-donors.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">donors<\/a> are pursuing a rebellion.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrats\u2019 response to the media\u2019s sudden grasp of Biden\u2019s cognitive deterioration highlights to what extent the party takes its cues from the press. Everyone knew the Biden campaign\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4744889-joe-biden-has-a-cold-debate\/\">cla<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4744889-joe-biden-has-a-cold-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">i<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4744889-joe-biden-has-a-cold-debate\/\">m<\/a> about the president\u2019s apparent \u201ccold\u201d at the CNN debate was bogus because of how the press reacted to news of then-President Donald Trump\u2019s cold in the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>A doctor on NBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/biden-s-risk-contracting-covid-19-deep-concern-after-debate-t193120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">warned<\/a> Biden\u2019s risk of contracting Covid-19 was a \u201cdeep concern\u201d after the first debate of 2020. The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/nufvi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">traced<\/a> Trump\u2019s contacts and travel over an entire week. The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/trump-virus-spread-white-house\/2020\/10\/02\/38c5b354-04cc-11eb-b7ed-141dd88560ea_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a> a long-form breakdown of \u201cHow the coronavirus spread in Trump\u2019s White House\u201d focused on the Supreme Court nominating ceremony for Judge Amy Coney Barrett.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough White House officials have begun contact tracing to try to identify the origin of the outbreak, it is not publicly known whether the Rose Garden announcement of Barrett\u2019s nomination was a superspreader event,\u201d the Post reported. \u201cStill, the jarring contrast between the carefree, cavalier attitude toward the virus on display in the Rose Garden last Saturday and the pernicious awakening that occurred Thursday night resembles a Shakespearean tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Presidential Debate Was the Kind of COVID-19 Risk Experts Have Been Warning Us About,\u201d read the <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5895518\/trump-coronavirus-covid-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headline<\/a> on another piece in Time magazine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor months, experts have hammered home this message: The riskiest place to be during the COVID-19 pandemic is a poorly-ventilated indoor environment with lots of other people, particularly if those people are unmasked,\u201d Time reported. \u201cIf even one person in such circumstances is infected, an innocent gathering can quickly turn into a super-spreading event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But there was no catastrophizing of a \u201csuper-spreading event\u201d when the Biden campaign nonchalantly announced the president\u2019s debate-night cold once he stepped off stage.
