Brown\u2019s resignation comes just weeks after he won the primary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will forever be grateful to the people of my district who entrusted me to represent them in the Iowa State Capitol,\u201d Brown said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2024\/07\/08\/republican-waylon-brown-resigns-from-his-iowa-senate-district-30-seat\/74328506007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thankful for my wife, Julie, and our two kids, who have supported me throughout my tenure as state senator. I look forward to my next chapter. The best is yet to come!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He has been serving in Iowa\u2019s Senate since 2017 after beating a Democratic incumbent. Brown prevailed in the state\u2019s June primary against challenger Doug Campbell, garnering 53% of the vote compared to Campbell\u2019s 47%.<\/p>\n<p>Democrat Rich Lorence was set to face Brown in the November general election.
