In the modern, identity-politics-dependent Democrat Party, Vice President Kamala Harris will provide the only real option for a replacement. At that point, candidate Harris will have some serious explaining to do.<\/p>\n<p>The first question for candidate Harris must be: \u201cWhy did you repeatedly lie to the American people about Joe Biden\u2019s mental fitness to be president?\u201d\u00a0We need not be sticklers about the precise form of this first question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy did you repeatedly lie about the most important issue facing the nation, the chief executive\u2019s mental competence?\u201d would be a suitable formulation.<\/p>\n<p>However it\u2019s phrased, Harris must be accountable for three obvious facts. First, Harris knew all along of Biden\u2019s lack of competence to serve as president. Second, Harris knew the serious inherent dangers facing the country as a result of Biden\u2019s mental state. Third, Harris disregarded those dangers and intentionally concealed them from the American public for political reasons. <\/p>\n<h2>The VP Has Been Lying for Quite Some Time<\/h2>\n<p>Just 10 months ago, Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/katiecouric.com\/news\/politics-and-policy\/kamala-harris-joe-biden-age\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told Americans<\/a> that Biden was not only mentally fit for the job but effectively the sharpest person she knows:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I see him every day. But the smartest man in the room?\u00a0That was a lie.<\/p>\n<p>Last November, Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/nbcmontana.com\/news\/nation-world\/vp-harris-downplays-concerns-over-president-bidens-age-more-than-a-chronological-factor-kamala-election-polls-white-house-karine-jean-pierre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeated<\/a> what we now know is utter nonsense: \u201cI spend a whole lot of time with our president. \u2026 I will tell you that he is in front of often everyone in the room in terms of thinking about how we can resolve issues \u2026\u201d Lie.<\/p>\n<p>In January, Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/4413645-2024-election-harris-biden-age-gop-critics-have-nothing-to-run-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told Americans<\/a> that questions about Biden\u2019s age and mental acuity were designed to \u201cdivide our country\u201d and were not \u201creal issues.\u201d She denounced Republicans for raising such concerns by claiming \u201cthey have nothing to run on.\u201d Lie.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p>\u2014 The View (@TheView) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheView\/status\/1747665152550351267?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 17, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In February, Special Counsel Robert Hur issued his report into Biden\u2019s decades-long mishandling of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-top-aide-to-president-biden-questioned-by-federal-investigators-over-classified-docs-repeatedly-appeared-in-hunter-emails\/\" title=\"Former Top Aide to President Biden Questioned by Federal Investigators Over Classified Docs Repeatedly Appeared in Hunter Emails\">classified documents dating back<\/a> to his years as a senator and vice president. That investigation revealed that Biden took highl<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/storage\/report-from-special-counsel-robert-k-hur-february-2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">y classified documents<\/a> from the government, \u201cwillfully\u201d retained them openly in his garage, and then \u201cwillfully\u201d disclosed the classified information to his ghostwriter as part of an $8 million book deal. <\/p>\n<p>Hur nevertheless declined to prosecute, concluding that Biden would present himself to a jury \u201cas a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hur-report-portrays-biden-as-elderly-man-with-poor-memory\/\" title=\"Report depicts Biden as &#039;aging individual&#039; with &#039;impaired recollection\">sympathetic elderly man<\/a> with a poor memory,\u201d making it difficult to prove a felony requiring \u201ca mental state of willfulness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to the Hur report, Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2024\/feb\/09\/biden-memory-democrats-respond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> Americans that Hur\u2019s description of Biden\u2019s mental lapses was not merely wrong but \u201cgratuitous, inaccurate, and inappropriate.\u201d She insisted that Hur\u2019s characterization of Biden\u2019s mental fitness \u201ccould not be more wrong on the facts\u201d and was \u201cclearly politically motivated.\u201d More lies.<\/p>\n<p>In March, after the State of the Union address, Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/nightly-news\/video\/kamala-harris-says-state-of-the-union-speech-should-ease-voter-concerns-about-biden-s-age-205897285819\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told Americans<\/a> that Biden\u2019s \u201cfiery\u201d speech \u201cput to rest\u201d any voter concerns about Biden\u2019s age. Lie.<\/p>\n<p>Even in the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4745149-harris-defends-biden-debate-cnn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">immediate aftermath<\/a> of the disastrous June 27 debate, Harris refused to admit Biden\u2019s obvious mental decline.<\/p>\n<h2>Vice Presidents Get No Free Pass<\/h2>\n<p>As vice president, Harris\u2019 situation vis-a-vis Biden\u2019s mental incompetence is <em>sui generis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>For the good of the country, Jill Biden should have hinted about this problem and gently walked Joe off stage many months (or years ago).\u00a0But Jill is Joe\u2019s wife. She gets a free pass politically, even if not morally.<\/p>\n<p>Gavin Newsom, Andy Beshear, Josh Shapiro, or fill-in-the-blank-with-any-other-Democrat governor can at least <em>claim<\/em> plausible deniability: \u201cWe are hundreds (or thousands) of miles away from Washington and can only go by what White House insiders say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not Harris. As vice president, she spends \u201ca whole lot of time\u201d with Biden and \u201csee[s] him every day.\u201d\u00a0Moreover, the <a href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/the-constitution\/amendments\/amendment-xxv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">25th Amendment<\/a> imposes substantial constitutional duties on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pete-buttigieg-lavishes-praise-on-kamala-harris-for-helping-pass-infrastructure-law\/\" title=\"Pete Buttigieg Lavishes Praise on Kamala Harris for Helping Pass Infrastructure Law\">vice president specifically<\/a> to take action in the event of the president\u2019s mental unfitness for office. Faithfully performing those duties serves, among other things, to inform the country and its citizens of any genuine questions about the president\u2019s fitness for office.<\/p>\n<p>When a president, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/world\/2024\/05\/30\/biden-approves-ukraine-us-weapons-us-russia\/73913008007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decides<\/a> to let another country shoot American-supplied missiles into Russia, Americans are entitled to know whether he is mentally fit to make such a decision. That is true whether one independently agrees with the decision regarding the use of such weapons.<\/p>\n<p>Vice President Harris has no excuses. She simply elected to lie to the American people about the most serious issue facing the country \u2014 the mental fitness of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/canadian-olympic-committee-warns-athletes-not-to-criticize-china\/\" title=\"Canadian Olympic Committee Warns Athletes Not to Criticize China\">chief executive officer<\/a>.
