Frederica Wilson (D-FL), are going all in on Biden, while some such as Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) are admonishing their colleagues for raising concerns about Biden\u2019s viability as the likely Democratic nominee. <\/p>\n<p>Biden plans to call into a Congressional Black Caucus meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday night to \u201cdiscuss the stakes of the 2024 election and their shared commitment to beating Donald Trump this November,\u201d the Biden campaign and a House Democrat source confirmed to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. The call will also provide an opportunity for CBC members to ask the president questions, the campaign said.<\/p>\n<p>Displays of solidarity and unity within the Democratic Party will be key for Biden\u2019s campaign moving forward in the 2024 election, especially as any signs of fracturing risks alienating black voters \u2014 a crucial demographic that helped Biden win the presidency in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>Black voters, in particular, boosted Biden\u2019s narrow victories in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/huge-sidney-powell-witness-whom-ny-times-described-as-always-the-smartest-person-in-the-room-concludes-hundreds-of-thousands-of-votes-transferred-from-trump-to-biden-in-all-battleground-states\/\" title=\"HUGE! Historically a reliable ally of the Democrats, particularly for Biden, the president <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2789343\/biden-disapproval-black-voters-meets-first-challenge-heads-south-carolina-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>garnered 92% of votes<\/a> from black people. Trump received 8% of the black vote in 2020 and 6% in 2016, according to the Pew Research Center. <\/p>\n<p>Biden has a significant advantage over Trump with black voters this time around, with his choosing of Kamala Harris as the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-is-the-most-unpopular-vice-president-in-50-years-polls-show\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris Is The Most Unpopular Vice President In 50 Years, Polls Show\">black female vice president<\/a> and nominating Ketanji Brown Jackson to be the first black woman to the Supreme Court. However, Biden will likely need to rely on strong support from black lawmakers if he wants to secure a second term.<\/p>\n<p>Horsford, who faces a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-gov-cuomo-polling-neck-and-neck-with-kathy-hochul-in-new-poll\/\" title=\"Ex-Gov Cuomo Polling Neck and Neck With Kathy Hochul in New Poll\">competitive general election<\/a> in November, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StevenHorsford\/status\/1810314956543578530\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a> on Monday that Biden \u201cis the nominee\u201d and voters across the United States and in Nevada are \u201cmoving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re focused on moving forward and reject the divisive politics of those who would like to take us back,\u201d Horsford said. \u201cThey know President Biden and Vice President Harris are fighting for them. Like me, they don\u2019t want to see Donald Trump back in the White House and are ready to work and VOTE to ensure that doesn\u2019t happen. We\u2019re not going back, we\u2019re moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), a senior black House Democrat, solidified his support for the president on Monday as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to make it clear: As a senior Democrat in the U.S. House, I fully support our President and Vice President, and we will defeat Trump again! #BackingBiden #BackingBidenHarris,\u201d Thompson <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bgthompsonms\/status\/1810408358995710084?s=46&#038;t=Gepuixs8AegS3Gcy3aXO2g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>posted<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n<p>Torres, a CBC member, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3072722\/ritchie-torres-slams-colleagues-self-destructive-panic-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>issued a warning<\/a> to his fellow Democrats on Monday, arguing that statements about whether Biden is fit to be the nominee are \u201cself-destructive\u201d and could further weaken the president in the general election race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose publicly calling on President Biden to withdraw should ask themselves: what if the President becomes the Democratic nominee? The drip, drip, drip of public statements of no confidence only serve to weaken a President who has been weakened not only by the debate but also by the debate about the debate,\u201d Torres said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/cami_mondeaux\/status\/1810306350171275350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWeakening a weakened nominee seems like a losing strategy for a presidential election,\u201d the New York Democrat continued. \u201cThe piling-on is not so much solving a problem as much as it is creating and compounding one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While some polls have shown black people <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/washington-secrets\/3004475\/black-voters-fleeing-biden-democrats-inflation-extremism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>trending away<\/a> from Democrats, Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3046704\/clyburn-doesnt-believe-black-voters-abandoning-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>dismissed indicators that Biden is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jamaal-bowman-claims-biden-is-losing-black-support-for-not-discussing-reparations\/\" title=\"Jamaal Bowman claims Biden is losing black support for not discussing reparations\">losing black support<\/a><\/a> to former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomething is amiss with the polling,\u201d Clyburn, a CBC member and Biden-Harris campaign co-chair who is credited with saving Biden\u2019s 2020 White House bid with a key win in South Carolina, said last month. \u201cAnybody who believes that Donald Trump will get 30% of the Black male vote or 12% of the Black female vote \u2014 I got a bridge down there on Johns Island I\u2019ll sell you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The South Carolina Democrat has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3072156\/democratic-clyburn-selected-messages-support-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"o\">o<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3072156\/democratic-clyburn-selected-messages-support-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"ffered various views\">ffered various views<\/a> of support for Biden and Harris. This comes after Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3069377\/biden-calls-top-democrats-shore-up-support-bad-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>called prominent Democrats<\/a>, including Clyburn, last week to rally support in the days following his lackluster display on the debate stage.<\/p>\n<p>So far, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3068503\/democrats-who-say-biden-should-drop-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"several House Democrats\">several House Democrats<\/a> have publicly called on Biden to step down as the presumptive nominee. Former Louisiana Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond pointed out to <em>Politico<\/em> in a Monday interview that those who have declared that opinion are mostly white Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s interesting that not one African American member [of Congress] has called on the president to step down,\u201d Richmond said, adding that these lawmakers \u201crisk alienating some of their base\u201d by rescinding support for Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson has also blasted her Democratic colleagues for criticizing Biden and calling for him to withdraw from the race, arguing that anyone who does so \u201cneeds to get their priorities straight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat Democrats need to be doing is stop listening to these political pundits and focus on what\u2019s at stake this election: our democracy,\u201d Wilson said in a statement Sunday. \u201cEnd of story. I stand with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and so should all Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) and former CBC Chairwoman Joyce Beatty (D-OH) echoed Wilson\u2019s statements, with both <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/lisabrochester\/status\/1809399835016978729?s=46&#038;t=Gepuixs8AegS3Gcy3aXO2g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>saying<\/a> they are \u201c100%\u201d behind Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are standing up with the Biden-Harris team because they have delivered for protecting our freedom and our democracy,\u201d Beatty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/morning-joe\/watch\/100-percent-with-the-president-house-member-on-why-she-s-standing-with-biden-214382149969\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Blunt Rochester said in a post to X that she is \u201c100% ridin\u2019 with Biden\u201d and he is the \u201conly one we can count on to defeat Donald Trump. And he will win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not all black Democrats are unified with the president, however. Michael B. Moore, candidate for South Carolina\u2019s 1st District who faces an uphill battle to unseat Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), called on Biden to step down and for the party to find a new nominee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the most consequential election of our lifetime,\u201d Moore said in a statement on July 4. \u201cWhat happens this November will set our country and our democracy on one of two courses, and the outcomes will be felt for generations to come. The party needs to come together to identify and rally around a new nominee, and look to President Biden\u2019s experience as the only candidate to beat Donald Trump less than four years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u200b\u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some Democrats are brushing off claims that the debate caused such great concern that a new nominee is needed. Rep. Al Green (D-TX), a CBC member, said in an interview with MSNBC on Sunday that he is \u201cnot so concerned that I have concluded that I will not support President Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m supporting him. I do believe he is the best person for the job.
