The left \u200dis concerned \u200dabout Biden&#8217;s candidacy because they fear\u200d it threatens their hold on the\u2062 executive branch. They have taken steps such \u200das censorship of information \u200bthrough\u200c social\u2063 media companies, removing Donald Trump from primary ballots through legal challenges,\u200b and using \u200dlawfare to throw \u200copponents like \u200dTrump in jail.\u200b There have \u200balso\u200d been efforts to prevent a real\u200b primary and ensure that only approved candidates, like Biden, are able to\u2063 run.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>We have now entered the \u201cstage a coup against a sitting president endorsed by primary voters because we don\u2019t think he can win an election\u201d phase of \u201csaving democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats, through external and internal efforts, are pressuring President Joe Biden to step down from the presidential race.<strong> <\/strong>But why is the left only concerned about Biden\u2019s candidacy? Why don\u2019t Democrats acknowledge that if the current president is not fit to run, he\u2019s not fit to be in office at all?  It\u2019s because they care less about the wellbeing of the nation and more about how Biden\u2019s 2024 campaign threatens their hold on the executive branch.<\/p>\n<p>Now, in an effort to avoid such a loss, the party wants to tell its primary voters to kick rocks.<\/p>\n<p>But this isn\u2019t the first step Democrats have taken to consolidate their power \u2014 er, protect \u201cdemocracy\u201d \u2014 in our Republic.<\/p>\n<h2>Censorship<\/h2>\n<p>Democrats have taken a sledgehammer to the First Amendment over the past few years, limiting what information the public can read, listen to, or watch.<\/p>\n<p>After taking office, the Biden administration began a widespread coordination effort with social media companies to \u201ccensor posts\u201d that were, as my colleague Shawn Fleetwood <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/26\/scotus-green-lights-feds-big-tech-censorship-scheme-ahead-of-2024-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained<\/a> it, \u201cdeemed unfavorable, even if said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/scotus-allows-feds-censorship-plot-ahead-of-2024-election\/\" title=\"SCOTUS Allows Feds&#039; Censorship Plot Ahead Of 2024 Election\">posts contained factually correct information<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A lower court judge issued a preliminary injunction last July after Missouri and Louisiana sued the Biden administration, citing an abridgment of the First Amendment. The 5th Circuit later upheld the injunction in September before the Supreme Court gutted the First Amendment in a June decision, permitting the censorship activities to go forward.<\/p>\n<p>CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/26\/politics\/social-media-disinformation-supreme-court-ruling\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">described<\/a> the implication of the ruling as permitting the Department of Homeland Security to continue \u201cto flag posts to social media companies such as Facebook and X that it believes may be the work of foreign agents seeking to disrupt this year\u2019s presidential race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But unelected bureaucrats also censored the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020, alleging it was the work of \u201cforeign agents\u201d who wanted to disrupt the election. As I previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/26\/thanks-to-scotus-the-foreign-interference-crowd-can-keep-peddling-hoaxes-to-silence-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained<\/a>, the media, government, and tech gatekeepers weaponize false claims of \u201cforeign interference\u201d to malign \u2014 and sometimes silence \u2014 opponents.<\/p>\n<h2>Kicking Their Opponent off the Ballot<\/h2>\n<p>Colorado became the first state to remove former president Donald Trump from the primary ballot after a left-wing activist group backed a challenge from Colorado voters to disqualify him under the 14th Amendment. The Colorado Supreme Court ruled in December that Trump was ineligible to appear on the ballot. Maine made a similar move, along with a county in Illinois where Judge Tracie Porter ordered Trump be removed from the primary ballot <em>after<\/em> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/chicago\/news\/trump-ballot-illinois-state-board-of-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">board<\/a> of elections <a href=\"https:\/\/cst.brightspotcdn.com\/b1\/87\/a8e6642e49fc9d95066cbebbb08f\/24coel13.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unanimously voted <em>against<\/em><\/a>  removing him. Porter <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/29\/illinois-judge-kicks-trump-off-the-ballot-says-any-votes-for-him-must-be-suppressed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruled<\/a> Trump should be removed from the ballot and ordered \u201cany votes for him to be suppressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/04\/unanimous-scotus-smacks-down-colorado-lawfare-states-have-no-power-to-kick-trump-off-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issued<\/a> a unanimous decision <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/05\/9-0-decision-shows-how-far-removed-democrat-lawfare-and-its-media-cheerleaders-are-from-reality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">overturning<\/a> the Colorado Supreme Court\u2019s ruling and found states did not have the constitutional authority to boot Trump from the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>When <em>that<\/em> didn\u2019t work, Democrats focused their efforts on tossing their opponent in jail.<\/p>\n<h2>Using Lawfare to Throw Opponents in Jail<\/h2>\n<p>Trump was originally slated to be sentenced on July 11 after a Manhattan District Attorney \u2014 who campaigned on nailing Trump \u2014 charged and secured a conviction against the former president for 34 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/15\/dragging-trump-into-court-while-biden-campaigns-is-election-interference-regardless-of-verdict\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">felonies<\/a> that no one could properly <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/31\/guilty-trump-verdict-will-keep-good-people-from-running-for-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">define<\/a>. The prosecution team included Matthew Colangelo, who previously served as the No. 3 in Biden\u2019s Department of Justice. A Biden donor oversaw the case, instituting <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/03\/missouri-ag-sues-new-york-for-lawfare-interference-in-presidential-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gag orders<\/a> prohibiting Trump from calling out the biased prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the risk of jail time, Democrats\u2019 lawfare against Trump is also designed to bleed him of valuable campaigning time and money, as seen in a civil fraud case in New York in which Trump was ordered to pay a bond of $175 million to appeal the decision.<\/p>\n<p>Special Counsel Jack Smith has brought charges against Trump for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/01\/scotus-immunity-ruling-further-delays-trump-trial-in-jack-smiths-d-c-lawfare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">questioning the administration<\/a> of the 2020 election and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-launches-2024-presidential-bid\/\" title=\"Trump Launches 2024 Presidential Bid\">allegedly mishandling classified documents<\/a>. Notably, Smith\u2019s appointment has been scrutinized by Supreme Court Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/01\/clarence-thomas-challenges-jack-smiths-legitimacy-as-trump-makes-same-argument-in-florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Clarence Thomas<\/a> and is now being challenged before Judge Aileen Cannon, who oversees Smith\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-asks-supreme-court-to-reject-trump-request-in-fbi-classified-documents-case\/\" title=\"DOJ Asks Supreme Court to Reject Trump Request in FBI Classified Documents Case\">classified documents case<\/a> against Trump in Florida. (Biden also was found to have likely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnns-smerconish-trump-suffering-death-by-a-thousand-cuts-legally-speaking\/\" title=\"CNN&#039;s Smerconish: Trump Suffering &#039;Death by a Thousand Cuts, Legally Speaking&#039;\">mishandled classified documents<\/a>, but Special Counsel Robert Hur chose not to pursue charges over concerns that Biden would <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/4456879-special-counsel-describes-biden-as-elderly-man-with-a-poor-memory-in-eye-raising-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appear<\/a> \u201celderly\u201d and sympathetic before a jury.)<\/p>\n<p>Trump also faces charges in Georgia for challenging the results of the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, to save \u201cdemocracy,\u201d Democrats are throwing people who ignore Congressional subpoenas in jail. But not the \u201c15 cabinet officials in the Biden administration [who] continue to defy congressional subpoenas\u201d or \u201cMerrick Garland, the attorney general of the United States, [who] continues to insist he\u2019s above Congress,\u201d as my colleague M.D. Kittle <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/01\/15-secretaries-blow-off-congressional-subpoenas-while-subpoena-refusal-lands-trump-adviser-in-jail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>. Instead, the only two individuals who have been thrown in jail for defying a congressional subpoena are Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/01\/15-secretaries-blow-off-congressional-subpoenas-while-subpoena-refusal-lands-trump-adviser-in-jail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">allies<\/a> Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro.<\/p>\n<h2>Democrats Prevented a Real Primary<\/h2>\n<p>The most important part of the left\u2019s \u201cdemocracy\u201d schtick is giving people the freedom to vote, so long as it\u2019s for the approved candidate \u2014 who has, up until this point, been Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips attempted to secure the Democratic nomination, saying he was running due to his long-standing concerns about Biden\u2019s fitness for office.<\/p>\n<p>Phillips said Biden would \u201close to Donald Trump\u201d while speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brittanylewis\/2023\/11\/13\/dean-phillips-says-hes-concerned-about-bidens-mental-and-physical-fitness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Forbes<\/a>. In fact, Phillips was rebuked by members of his own party for raising concerns in October that Biden wasn\u2019t the right candidate for the Democrat Party. Before stepping down as co-chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, Phillips described the ability to speak his mind as being stifled. He said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/10\/05\/politics\/dean-phillips-biden-leadership-change\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNN<\/a>, that his \u201cposition on 2024 was \u2018causing discomfort&#8217;\u201d for Democratic leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Consider how <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/20\/democrats-canceled-their-florida-primary-to-help-biden-it-backfired-and-helped-republicans-flip-local-seats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Florida Democrats chose<\/a> to award Biden the state\u2019s delegates in November rather than holding a presidential primary, and how the Democratic National Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/biden-challenger-phillips-new-hampshire-calls-biden-weak-unelectable-2024-01-21\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">moved<\/a> its first primary to South Carolina last minute \u2014 a state <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/joe-biden-not-on-new-hampshire-primary-ballot-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">credited<\/a> with helping gin up support for Biden during the 2020 primary races \u2014 rather than hold it in New Hampshire. <\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Democrats have worked in states across the country to keep independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. off the ballot out of fears he might spoil Biden\u2019s votes. Kennedy was also excluded from the recent presidential debate hosted by Democrat-friendly network CNN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA well<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/robert-f-kennedy-jr-deserves-to-be-on-the-presidential-debate-stage\/\" title=\"Robert F. Kennedy Jr. should be on the Presidential debate stage\">-financed candidate consistently polling<\/a> with the support of more than 1 in 10 Americans for months on end is clearly a major contender worthy of a podium,\u201d my colleague Tristan Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/23\/robert-f-kennedy-jr-deserves-to-be-on-the-presidential-debate-stage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>. Kennedy has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/02\/rfk-jr-bidens-censorship-regime-is-arguably-a-worse-threat-to-democracy-than-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> that Biden\u2019s censorship regime is arguably a \u201cworse threat to democracy\u201d than Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats will spare no expense to protect their \u201cdemocracy.\u201d Clearly, they\u2019re willing to use every anti-democratic measure to consolidate power, from throwing their political opponents in jail, censoring anyone who disagrees with their approved narrative, ignoring the will of their primary voters, and potentially ousting a sitting president because they think he might lose an election.<\/p>\n<p>If Democrats are willing to eat their own, what else are they willing to do these next few months to secure a victory in November?<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Brianna Lyman is an elections correspondent at The Federalist.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are now in a phase where Democrats are pressuring President Joe Biden to step down from the presidential race, showing their concern only for their hold on power rather than the wellbeing of the nation.
