The pools pictured aren\u2019t thousands of years old, but instead originate from the Victorian era.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A new report found that people who live in Malta are the fourth biggest worriers in the world, with 63% of the population feeling worry, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofmalta.com\/article\/the-maltese-among-worried-stressed-world-report.1094664\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Times of Malta<\/a>. One anthropologist suggested it may be because of the country becoming \u201covercrowded\u201d and \u201cmore consumerist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An X post purports that the \u201cRoman tidal baths\u201d are a sign that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/shapiro-debunking-climate-change-hysteria\/\" title=\"SHAPIRO: Debunking Climate Change Hysteria\">rising sea levels<\/a> should not be a concern. The photo appears to show an aerial view of a beach with many small pools encased with stone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRoman tidal baths on Malta \u2013 still at sea level after thousands of years. But \u2013 climate change is about to kill us all. Right?\u201d the post reads.<\/p>\n<p><span>A Community Note on the post says that the photo was taken in the late 19th century, referencing an article from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.atlasobscura.com\/places\/roman-baths-of-sliema\"><span>Atlas Obscura<\/span><\/a><span>. The baths, located in the town of Sliema, are from the Victorian era and although the pools are called Roman baths, they are unrelated to the Romans, according to the site. A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DOImalta\/posts\/pfbid02SE2viTGrmLSCbL5tASwSDzvqCajB7cpGokJVAN4yqm4V6oPkciX4g3YoPn2tkz8xl\"><span>post<\/span><\/a><span>  from the Malta government\u2019s Department of Information also indicates that the pools were constructed in the Victorian area. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>An article from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maltatoday.com.mt\/environment\/environment\/88389\/heritage_in_a_pool_the_story_told_by_the_sliema_baths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malta Today<\/a>, too, says that the pools are from the Victorian era. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2023\/05\/03\/fact-check-auschwitz-swimming-pool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Auschwitz Have A Swimming Pool?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Check Your Fact reached out to a spokesperson for the Sliema Local Council for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A photo circulating on X supposedly shows ancient Roman tidal baths in Malta that have remained at sea level for thousands of years.
