Boeing has agreed to plead guilty\u2063 to a criminal fraud charge related to \u200dtwo 737 Max jetliner crashes that killed 346 people\u2062 in exchange for \u2063 escaping criminal prosecution<\/a> by the\u2064 Department of Justice. \u2064The company \u2063has\u200d agreed to invest at least $455 million to \u2063beef up its compliance and safety programs and pay a $243.6 million \u200bfine. However, many\u2062 people on social media are\u2062 criticizing \u2063the plea deal \u200bfor failing to hold Boeing\u200d accountable for its actions. The families of the deceased are also\u2064 asking the judge to \u200breject \u200bthe deal because it “unfairly makes concessions to Boeing that other \u2062criminal defendants would never\u2064 receive.” This case follows a 2021 deferred prosecution agreement<\/a> \u2062in\u2062 which \u2063Boeing agreed \u200bto pay over $2.5 billion in penalties\u2064 and compensation to the families \u2063of the crash victims. <\/p>\n
